LAHC Fall 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi, all! Just wanted to make a thread to see who has applied to LAHC's Nursing program for the fall semester of 2017! Maybe we can all get together and study for the upcoming TEAS in April if there are some still needing to take it :) I know it's a bit early, but it's better to be prepared!

Hope to hear from admissions soon - I called and asked when emails for the TEAS would be sent out, and the lady said it would be maybe at the end of March!

Oh wow, hi everyone! I was beginning to think nobody applied to the program since I thought I wasn't getting any comments on this thread emailed to me, haha. Its nearly the end of March!!! I haven't heard anything from the department, so hopefully they'll get around to it in the next two to three weeks! Does anybody else still need to take the TEAS? How are you all preparing for it?

I've purchased both practice test A and B, as well as the manual. So far, I've been mainly focusing on A&P, and a bit on language and english usage. It gets very technical!

I bought the book from the ATI website, I didn't buy the tests, I might do that at a later time. I heard that the test has a lot of chemistry and physiology

I applied to Golden West, LAHC and Long Beach city! At this point I don't even care where I get in as long as I get in somewhere! Has anyone heard anything yet??

I applied to LBCC as well, I think they send the letters out in late April, early may.

I don't remember there being any chemistry on the teas test! Mostly anatomy and physiology and then some graphs!

Thats good to hear, I took chemistry a couple years ago. How long is the test?

I don't remember! I believe there's a link on LAHC nursing website that explains what the sections are and how long you have to complete each one. I would definitely study A&P and read up on the English section. I thought English would be easy since it's my first language but it uses a lot of terms that I wasn't familiar with. And where to put commas and things like that.

Thank you, I will do that. I just saw that it is 209 minutes, with a 62% cut off score.

Joining this post! I applied to LAHC and am still waiting to hear something! I also applied to lbcc, lasc, and cal state la (I didn't get in there. My science gap was a 4.0 but my overall gpa was a 3.5 due to mistakes I made when I was younger)

i took the teas teas last year and got an 85.3% cut score. I only studied a few days so I'm sure I could've done better if I studied more diligently. My advice: spend the money on the study book and practice tests that ATI offers on their website-it's worth the money!!! The preparation you get from those materials helps you get a good score, and a good score is priceless! Also, the practice tests are harder than the actual tests, so don't get discouraged if you are scoring low-I was scoring 60s and 70s on the practice tests and ended up getting a great score on the real thing. I took the teas V but I'm sure they're very similar, again just use their study info. The portion I scored lowest on was reading because I tend to test way too fast. Take your time, and stick with your gut. If you are thinking of changing the answer but aren't 100% sure-then don't change it!

Best of luck guys! Please post when you hear!

I called the Nursing building.

They said they hope to send emails by the end of next week!

Ahhh the suspense!! I called recently as well and they said they haven't heard back from admissions, so they were thinking they'd hear back the week after spring break (which is this week!) I'm so nervous! I hope we ALL get teas invitations/picked for the second lottery!

Has anybody heard anything? I'm thinking emails might be sent out next week instead! :cautious:

I haven't heard a thing! 'm glued to my phone... it has been a while. I'm wondering what could be taking them so long?
