While doing a group anatomy and physiology lab report, we split it into 3 chunks, each person writing their own part. I wrote the discussion while one girl wrote the introduction and the third wrote results and graphs. Everybody emailed me their part and I put it all together and turned it in. I hired an old anatomy and physiology student to tutor me and he showed me his old lab report. It was exactly the same word for word as the introduction my partner emailed me! In the beginning of the semester some example lab reports from past students were stolen and it must have been one of them. I emailed my teacher immediately but haven't heard back yet. Should I suffer for what my lab partner did? Our partners were picked for us so I hardly know this girl.

Uh no you shouldn't suffer for what your lab partner did. You should get in touch with your teacher ASAP because sometimes people get kicked out of school for plagiarizing work; sometimes teachers also hold the whole group responsible instead of the one person that did it so you should try to clear your name as soon as you can. Good luck.

No you should not be punished but who knows how your professor will respond. But, you were very honorable in emailing your teacher as soon as you figured out what had happened.

You did the right thing, just in case your professor figured it out. Now lets hope your professor will have mercy on you and your other partner that did your part without plagiarizing. At my college if you are caught 1st time they can dismiss you from the college forever!
I have the email my partner sent me saying this is her introduction and to let her know how it is with the attachment of her plagiarized introduction. I know there are teachers out there that would say everybody gets a zero but hopefully that's not how my teacher will handle it. I did find it odd that her sources were from the old anatomy and physiology book but those books are supplied in the study room and many students do use them.

I just showed this thread to my professor husband and here are his thoughts:
Was your tutor a former student of your instructor?
Have the tutor email your instructor a copy of his introduction that he showed you as an example as further proof of your partner's plagiarizing.
Did your tutor actually write his own paper?
Did you and your classmates sign a promise to turn in cheaters?

You partner is very selfish. Doing this while working by herself is one thing, but doing it while working in a group and risking everybody else is so wrong. This is not a matter of tattle telling, this is YOUR grade possibly getting affected!
Your* partner...
