I was just accepted into LA Pierce College's Generic ADN program for fall 2013 and I am just curious as to how current or former nursing students liked the program? Are the resources and instructors good? There really is not much posted about this program on allnurses...any feedback would be appreciated!! Thank you!
Really appreciate the feedback! I reached out to -------------- this week and she will be sending an email out next week with more information on the info packets we need to prepare. Is there a simulation/skills lab on campus? Where you have a mock-clinical setting to practice.
Yes, there's a skills lab. However, in your first semester, there isn't much to do. The first few weeks of skills lab you'll be watching videos and using your med-surg bag (has syringes, foley caths, medication vials. etc) so you can get familiar with it. They also have 4 beds with patient mannequins so you can learn how to make a bed properly and do a head-to-toe assessment. Remember, it's your first semester of fundamentals so it's very basic. Don't expect to learn how to start IV's.
3 weeks later, you will start clinicals :)

so yes, send me a message when you get your book list. It can get quite expensive. Also, if you are interested in a med surg bag. They require you to buy it but you're gonna use it only once or twice. Mine is still semi-brand new :)
