LA Pierce College Nursing Students...feedback

U.S.A. California

I was just accepted into LA Pierce College's Generic ADN program for fall 2013 and I am just curious as to how current or former nursing students liked the program? Are the resources and instructors good? There really is not much posted about this program on allnurses...any feedback would be appreciated!! Thank you!

Thanks for posting, and the information! Intel is always wanted lol!

I need 11 more posts before I can reply to messages. lol.

so yes, send me a message when you get your book list. It can get quite expensive. Also, if you are interested in a med surg bag. They require you to buy it but you're gonna use it only once or twice. Mine is still semi-brand new :)

Really appreciate the feedback! I reached out to ------------- this week and she will be sending an email out next week with more information on the info packets we need to prepare.

Is there a simulation/skills lab on campus? Where you have a mock-clinical setting to practice.

Yes, there's a skills lab. However, in your first semester, there isn't much to do. The first few weeks of skills lab you'll be watching videos and using your med-surg bag (has syringes, foley caths, medication vials. etc) so you can get familiar with it. They also have 4 beds with patient mannequins so you can learn how to make a bed properly and do a head-to-toe assessment. Remember, it's your first semester of fundamentals so it's very basic. Don't expect to learn how to start IV's.

3 weeks later, you will start clinicals :)

Perfect, thank you for the info!

Hey mjmx76,

Just curious are ipads or any specific tablets moreless a necessity for the program?

Did any of you guys get your books already?

Probably going to at least wait until orientation.

I didn't get my books yet either only because it said in the letter to wait until orientation.

Hi...ipads/tablets are not really needed, but they don't mind you using one. All the lectures are powerpoints. I took my iPad just to follow along her (407/408) lecture and made notes...

Send me the booklist to my email, [email protected], to check if the same books are being used.

Oh ok. Thank you. Just wanted to make sure! :)

Hi everyone - I just got accepted into the Pierce College Nursing Program for this Fall 2014! I was wondering if anyone had any more advice, now that you have been in the program for a few semesters? Thanks so much! :-)
