LA County College of Nursing LVN-RN Summer 2014

Published

Hello everyone!

I wanted to start a thread for those of us who applied to the Los Angeles County College of Nursing and Allied Health for the LVN-RN bridge Summer 2014 cohort. I took the TEAS V on 2/22/14 and I passed with the 5 bonus points! Yay! This is the only school I want to go to and really hope I get in otherwise I have to wait another semester since this is the ONLY school I applied to! yikes! So I am anxiously waiting for the acceptance letters to be sent out in mid-April! I am a little nervous since I have not worked as an LVN so I hope that my schooling has prepared me enough for this program! We will see!

Hmmm that's weird.. In the letter I got a postcard that I need to send back with my decision on whether or not I am still interested. And the letter also says to call and notify that I am still interested by May 9th or else I will be deleted from the roster.

Hi everyone! I am a county student in first semester right now. I am actually an LVN that started from the beginning. Halfway through my semester I decided to petition and maybe advance to 3rd and take the transition class this summer. My petition was approved and I will be starting the transition class with you all! County is an amazing school. I've learned a lot even just being in 1st semester. I received the packet and all the information for the transition course. Utilize me for any questions, I'll be glad to help. :)

Congrats on getting accepted, this is the only school I applied to and the only school I wish to go to. I have heard many good things about the school itself, and thanks for sharing your experience and making yourself available for help!! I still haven't received anything and its killing me inside, this is my 2nd time applying.m

I still haven't gotten anything, I'm waiting on the mailman, hopefully I get something. I'm being optimistic, god knows what is best for me. It's stressful and I feel the stress building on. I will keep praying for peace and be ready for whatever may come.

Well I will pray for you also. My mom always told me no news is good news (of course this is MUCH easier said than done as I was freaking out before I got my letter). This was also the only school I applied to. If you don't mind sharing what were your points?

You're very welcome! Don't loose hope, I thought I wasn't going to get in anyways. I'm just wondering as to why you haven't applied anywhere else? You did say that this was the only school you wish you attend. But you should try to apply to more schools-- so you have some sort of a back up. I'm sure you'll get in one. Best of luck to you!

:no:still now news. What could be taking them so long? I called and was told "letters are going out" !! WHEN !!! Ugh

You got a letter ? Did u apply for summer 2014?

I did apply to summer 2014 and I got my acceptance letter on Saturday. So everyone should get notification by the end of the week... *hopefully*

Lord please hear our prayers.

Yes, I will pray we all get to registrar.

Does anyone know what the curriculum will be like? 4 days a week or 5 dates a week?

On the master syllabus for the summer there are 7 skills check off days prior to start of summer semester. Then the way it looks is there are only two days a week except the third week which is three days. Times range from 0700-1130/1530.

But during regular semester I believe it is only Monday through Thursday with clinicals Tuesday and Wednesday and lectures Mondays and Thursdays.
