Hello everyone!
I wanted to start a thread for those of us who applied to the Los Angeles County College of Nursing and Allied Health for the LVN-RN bridge Summer 2014 cohort. I took the TEAS V on 2/22/14 and I passed with the 5 bonus points! Yay! This is the only school I want to go to and really hope I get in otherwise I have to wait another semester since this is the ONLY school I applied to! yikes! So I am anxiously waiting for the acceptance letters to be sent out in mid-April! I am a little nervous since I have not worked as an LVN so I hope that my schooling has prepared me enough for this program! We will see!
Well I have some news.. After some soul searching, praying, and discussion with family and a good friend ( you know who you are) I have decided to postpone going to nursing school until next year so I can stay home with my baby 4 month old girl. This was a hard decision but once it was made it just felt right! Of course I will still keep you updated if I get a call or letter! I wish you all the best! So now I have to look forward to this torturous wait again next year! Lol!
Wow, @lovemy3boys. I have to say follow your heart. I couldn't start the RN journey until my 4yr old started Kindergarten. So I totally understand. I was with both my daughters till they were ready for school. My little one start kindergarten in August with my seven year old daughter. So the time is right now. You still accomplished a lot and I'm sure you made it in. Which just means that your opportunity is going to be even better next year. It actually adds a point to you
Hi everyone! I am a county student in first semester right now. I am actually an LVN that started from the beginning. Halfway through my semester I decided to petition and maybe advance to 3rd and take the transition class this summer. My petition was approved and I will be starting the transition class with you all! County is an amazing school. I've learned a lot even just being in 1st semester. I received the packet and all the information for the transition course. Utilize me for any questions, I'll be glad to help. :)
That's wonderful news! Congratulations! So I gave decided if I do get accepted I will go this year instead of waiting. I have so many questions for you.
1. Do you know if they have started notifying people yet about acceptance?
2. Do you know what the point cut off is?
3. What is the schedule like for the summer?
4. What are clinicals like? (instructors, staff, etc.)
5. What clinical site did you go to?
Thank you so much slicksgirl for the info and congrats again!
