Hi everyone!

I recently received an offer of admission to Kwantlen's BSN Post-Baccalaureate Program in which you can get your Bachelors in Nursing in 27 months. This program is to commence in Sept 2013.

I was wondering if anyone has any feedback regarding this program. What's it like compared to the Undergraduate BSN 4-year program at Kwantlen? How is the program in general compared to other BC Nursing Programs? etc.... Any help or information is appreciated!

If you have also been accepted to the program or is thinking of applying, feel free to comment!

For the love of God, please do not consider the KPU BSN-PB program. I would recommend a 4 year program or BCIT over this. I know you've been in school forever and already have a degree, but you will thoroughly regret this program. You're forced to buy an ipad with the assumption it's used or will be used in the hospital, IT'S NOT! It's only for utilizing these apple apps in order to do the assignments. Pathophysiology, pharmacology, and clinical practice is absolutely lacking. You will NOT prepared for clinical. It is not as "flexible" as you assume, there are "hours" needed every semester and they are extremely irrelevant to nursing, yet it's twisted to make it seem helpful. There are due dates on assignments. If you are considering working concurrently with taking this program, think again and do NOT attempt! This program assumes you'll learn everything during clinical, reality is this should be a time of consolidation, and there are huge gaps between clinical, everything you learn you'll forget or is changed in policy.

My only advice if you're in this program or considering it, begin learning pathophysiology and clinical things early on, because all the other courses are full of paining and making pretty pictures of irrelevant subjects.

Prepare to feel stupid, unintelligent, anxious, depressed and poor from this program. Everything important, you have to learn, teach, and buy books on your own with no help from KPU. Nursing should be hard, lot's of studying and hours spent in lab/clinical. This program is not that. There are no tests or finals. Sound's amazing, but in the long run you're going to fail the NCLEX and not be able to find a job.

Hi sourkey,

thanks for the input, do you mind me asking what semester you're in or did you just grad? thx!

Hi Junoboy,

are you thinking of registering for September 2014? I'm thinking of doing the same.

im actually in it currently!

I only have one A&P course left to take which I will be doing in Jan to April. Hopefully I can make it in this year.

Any updates from current students or graduates of this program?

Heads up if you applied to KPU BSN PB for Sept 2015: I just spoke *** and she said acceptance letters will go out beginning of June. She apologized that they are kind of behind right now. She said the fastest way to know about acceptance is to keep checking online using your student number, as it will change there first (right now, it should say "under review" if you have completed all requirements).

Thanks for the info julianth. Did you receive your acceptance letter?

Hi Rshiku203. No, unfortunately, I received a rejection. Because my degree was not granted until this spring (along with completion of my A & P prerequisites), I did not make the March 31st deadline and there were enough applicants who graduated from previous years to fill all the seats. Very sad, but it means I am pretty much guaranteed a seat for next year, since there is nothing left for me to do but apply again in Nov. and they use a first come first served process.

Sorry to hear Julianth! Yes there is always next year.

For those already in the program, did any of you work while taking the program?

Hey guys,

Yes you can definitely manage at least a few shifts a week during this program. It is a lot of online work/reading but so long as you stay on top of it, it is doable! I am not sure if I could say the same during the 3 month practicum, and there are also practicums each term after the third (albeit less time). They are continually in the process of perfecting and changing the program for the better, but I would advise against it unless you have the ability to force yourself to do the work and extra studying.

Hello! I am starting the PB-Nursing program at Kwantlen this September.

For those already in the program, I was wondering which iPad you used. I am debating whether I should get the regular iPad, air, or mini.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! :)
