Hi!
I recently got a conditional letter of acceptance for the Kwantlen Nursing program. I was wondering if anyone else applied and got conditional acceptances here. Also, if anyone has experience with the program, please feel free to comment here too!
Who told you that a 3.74 is not high enough. I spoke to an adviser at Kwantlen and she said university students typically have between a 3.45-3.5 cgpa. But I spoke to the nursing assistant to the program, and she said people with 3.2 were accepted, but it all depends on the pool of applicants. I wish they accepted more applicants, 16 spots is not that much.
I think you have a good chance on making it.
I just looked at your previous message and I noticed you are from highschool. I don't think my email will help you. I am not sure what the grades from highschool need to be. Maybe try asking an adviser and seeing what they say.
Good luck anyways.
I went to the info session at KPU Langley campus and I gotta say it just took all the hope right out of me. I asked the adviser what % avg I need to be competitive and she said 92% and that admissions is purely based on your grades. So I was wondering if there any other schools that will accept students straight out of high school. Thanks, I appreciate any info.
I was looking at your previous postings and isn't a 3.74 grade point average a 93.5%. Aren't highschool grades based on a 4.0 scale. This would mean you would be competitive. I would suggest applying and you will find out in April if you are accepted. If you do not get accepted then start taking some courses and get a great undergraduate GPA and you will get accepted after that.
There are other universities like UVIC and UBC that accepts highschool students but I would assume it would be harder to get into these.
Good luck.
spoke to my Counselor and she recommended Douglas as a good second option that would be a bit easier... I figured I'd come here and see what you guys have heard about Douglas BSN program... I've been told it's a 1+3 structured program which confuses me... but I'm still not giving up on KPU and after finals I should have bumped my gpa up to a 3.8 so fingers crossed that will be enough....
Thanks
The 1+3 structure works like this
Your 1st year you take 30 pre determined credits such as A and p, English, stats, electives, micro biology, pathophysiology etc. you do not take any actual nurses courses just the non nursing courses which you need to complete your degree. Once you've finished those 30 credits you can apply for the 3 year nursing program and that's where you take all the actual nursing courses. It's actually a great structure as you have a good science and liberal art back ground before you start your nursing courses. All in all it is still a 4 year degree program however you essentially do the first year on your on own and then the last three in a closed program.... Hope this makes sense.
It's a brand new program so right now if you have all the requirement no HOWEVER I'm assuming there could be a chance yes you could not get accepted after the first year
With that said it's first come first serve acceptance so if you apply early ( even before you are done the first year) and have all the requirements done then you should be fine :)

Hi Everyone.
I will applying to the program for next fall. I have a GPA of 3.43 and I am not sure if this is good enough. I am just hoping and having my fingers crossed that this is enough.
Do you guys know of what other peoples GPA was when they got in or what GPA some are applying with.
