Ok, so I've kind of looked around the site, but I can't find what I'm looking for. I applied to the KSU accelerated nursing program for the Spring of 2012. Our applications, TEAS score, etc. already had to be turned in by May 31st. I was curious to know about how long they take to get back to you to let you know if you made it to the second round. I've got a 3.2 GPA right now, and I graduate from UGA in December with a BS in Psychology. I made a 91.3% overall score on the TEAS V. Does anyone have any idea about my chances of getting in? I took the TEAS without even taking A&P at all, but I'm taking it right now. Any advice if I do make it to the second round? I am CPR/First Aid certified and I have my CNA. Also, if anybody needs any advice about the TEAS, I'd be happy to answer some questions and tell you what I thought of it.
Thanks!
Thanks UGAgal and lizyun-- you are right. I had to call about the interview letters, so she knows that there is an issue. If it doesn't if it come in the morning I will give them a call. I know that they are overwhelmed with calls and I wanted to honor their request to wait, but surely this is a reasonable. It is, after all, a pivotal event in my life! Congratulations, again, everyone!!!! I am excited for you and hope to join you soon!
Fanger33, I think this is an excellent idea. which program are you in and let's set up some times to meet up.
i am a transfer from Georgia State (where i lived in the library!!!) and i was disappointed with the library at KSU...where would we meet instead?
i also live near KSU and i'm available most evenings and every weekend.

I am currently in the traditional program, but has a slight chance of getting bumped up to accelerated. Maybe we could meet somewhere in the Nursing building, I am sure they have an open area. I know they did upstairs in the biology wing where we would sometimes meet bc nobody knew of it. I am free all day Sundays and Fridays.
@Fanger33
okay i am meeting a professor there tomorrow, so i can ask if there's another place in that building we can meet to study. are you talking about the sitting area near the elevators on 3rd floor? i usually like study rooms with whiteboards to work out problems etc..i'm not familiar with ksu's set up...so since i'm off work tomorrow i can scavenger around
does the book have practice problems? i can ask also ask for sample questions tomo at my meeting :)!
i am also waiting for my calc with confid book to arrive from amazon...is the mail running tomo with columbus day?
@skyebrook- crossing my fingers...good luck!
@mom2ees- yes summer is eight weeks...lol! i'm dreading that also!!!!
@proms2009- i saw on another thread that you had questions about immunizations and books. here is a link for the clinical requirements (immunizations, cpr, drug & background check) http://www.kennesaw.edu/chhs/son/current/clinical.html do not get the drug test done until the first week of class! it has to be done once you start the program!!!! as far as books, you will be able to see the list once you register for class on owl express. the teachers have to submit the book request information to the bookstore which is usually around the time of registration. i would hold off on that because you don't know if they will be changing editions or texts as a whole. a current student told me to start working on drug calculations (calculate with confidence) because we will be tested and have to pass with 90%, and study pathophysiology. i've been working on drug calculations and it seems pretty straight to the point to me. i'm also really good with math, so that's helps. i'm almost 3/4 through the book.

The book is EXCELLENT!!!!!! It has a ton of problems and it also comes with a CD that has problems also. It has a review section that covers converting between different masses, volumes, etc. and it covers the basics of rounding, adding decimals, multiplying fractions, etc. Each chapter feeds off of the previous chapter so it is easier to follow along. Each chapter has practice problems and a review test. I've had no problems grasping the information and I am more than half way through the book. I don't think the professor will give you practice problems, but like I said the book and CD have PLEEEENNNNNTTTTYYY!!! Honestly, it would probably be better to meet after everyone has gone through the review section because it can be very redundant for some. When it gets to calculating doses of medication, that's where the fun is:)....and a whiteboard would help if we decide to study as a group.
There are study areas on the second and third floors near the elevators in the nursing building. They have some study rooms available, but I am not sure how you request those. I agree KSU's library sucks! However, they also have group study rooms that you can reserve. You need to have your KSU ID card and request a room at the front desk. Hope this helps.
I do believe mail does not run on Columbus day
@StarLite1980
Thanks so much for the reply! Where did you get your book, and for how much. I was thinking about ordering online, but I want to make sure I get that CD. I like working problems on the computer. I saw so cheap prises online, but after shipping it would be about the same as buying it at KSU store.
@ForHisGlory24
Let me know what you find out about meeting up. It would be great to have a white board where we could work out the problems on a larger scale.
@ Fanger-
I got mine from amazon.com. I got the 4th edition brand new with the CD, it was still shrink wrapped. The information is the same as the 5th edition. The 5th edition has updated general info like (how meds are tracked, systems used, etc.) We are going to learn that stuff anyway when we take pharmacology, so I didn't think it mattered. The total with shipping was like $20. Explanations are the same in both editions.

Skyebrooke, I wonder if you could just call Fran and ask? If you explain the address situation I think she would be willing to tell you...
