i have been having alot of trouble finding a watch that can handle the rigors of being washed alot and also some of the plastic bands make me break out. i have to wear hydrocortisone creme with a bandaid under my watch or i have welts by the end of the day. i have a couple of nurse mates watches but the plastic bands make me break out. what kind of watch do you wear?

Pulsar... metal band with double clasp. It is waterproof to something like 100M (I wear it all the time.... except to shower -- just my weirdness I guess, I take all my jewelry off to shower.) I even wear it to swim, or jetski,

A Fossil with a metal band. It was a bit expensive, I think ~ $50, but it's lasted me several years, which the cheapie drugstore watches never did.
thank you for the suggestions i am going to start looking into these brands.

timex indiglo with a rubber band
The only problem I've had with my Fossil is that depending on what soap housekeeping feels like putting in the dispensers on any given day, sometimes it reacts to the metal and I get a black smudge on my wrist. Washes off, though, and it doesn't do anything to the metal itself. I just keep an eye on it so my pt's parents don't think I'm filthy.

My husband just got me an Under Armour watch that does both digital and has hands like a traditional watch. I just looked it up so I can post a link and it is quite pricey, but I LOVE it. It has withstood nastiness in the ER and I've never had trouble with it. Plus, it tells me what day of the week it is, which can get confusing at times!
