kind of a personal question but....

if you could help that would be great!!! i know alot of people dont like talking about the money they make. However; i am a student and i graduate this spring. Im very uptight with my money...i watch over it like a hawk! im all about saving money and doing what is financially the best.

What does a nurse make, on average, per month? just a ball park estimate. It would be easy for me to figure out what i would be making if i knew what i was getting paid. I have a job where i had my internship. We will be setting things up this spring so i will know then. But i DO KNOW that its going to be in a bigger hospital, a cardiac floor and i will be working full time 12 hr shift.

i have alot of payments and things to pay when im done with school. (desprate need of a new car!!, house payments, school payments and much more!)

Jay, I'd *highly* recommend checking out Dave Ramsey before you saddle yourself with a new house and lots of payments. It's worth the work to get out of debt and build up cash, and it can be done. Really. It hurts me to see people planning to spend based on what they make, instead of staying under their take-home threshhold.

I totally agree with cmonkey! Check out Dave Ramsey's website, and do not go into debt while trying to get out of debt, that is just crazy!

Totally agree with cmonkey & teacher first. LOVE Dave Ramsey. After I started listening to him I sold my $40k SUV (had to pay a little to get out of it) and bought an older minivan outright with cash. Now we just have to work on the mortgage, no other debt. It is so liberating to not owe money to a ton of accounts.

With the instability in the real estate market, I would not suggest borrowing more than 80% LTV on a mortgage. SORRY FOR THE MOTHER HEN RANT!!

Much Luck to you!

To cmonkey, teacherfirst and lgtx3: thanks for mentioning Dave Ramsey. I'll check him out. Even though I am a RN and my husband is an engineer, we can't seem to get out of debt, even with no car payments.

Jay2daq: In Texas, RNs start out around $22 an hour, with more for night shift and weekend differentials.
