Hello,

I just got kicked out of nursing school after my freshman year in college. I know many people will say freshman year was easy and you shouldn't have got kicked out, but one thing I know I could have done better but I had to get used to the environment around me. I have learned so much stuff from my freshman year that I have to change to make sure I get those A's and B's. I'm planning on doing my best to get mostly A's next semester. Now I am devastated and hate myself because I know I could have done so much better, but I am determined to re-apply even if I have to stay an extra year. I want to become a pediatric nurse and I want to achieve my dream but then I'm scared what if I don't get back in. I already talked to my old advisor and she said I could re-apply. Has anyone got kicked out and came back? Is it possible? :nurse::cry:

It certainly is possible to reapply. However, you might want to take a little time and analyze why you didn't do well this time. Do you need some time in the work world to develop better study skills? Nothing wrong with working a while, living a little and then go back.

Better than jumping right back into it without first realizing why you failed. Good luck.

Sounds like you need to keep in touch with your advisor and correct what went wrong!

It took me 5 years to get my RN! It was worth the work.

Best of luck!

I'm proof that it is possible. My freshman year was all about having fun. I was 18 years old. I took a couple of years off, worked, supported myself and grew up. I knew what I needed to do then. I had to repeat my freshman year by taking everything I could that wasn't specifically nursing, and the same with my sophmore year. I got straight A's, reapplied and the rest is history.

Also I don't understand, I was talking with the dean and she keeps telling me that I can re-apply but she is like if you got kicked out they are advising me to search for another career. I know I want to do nursing, I wanted to do it forever, why would they tell you stuff like that to bring you down?

Do you think you can apply to a different nursing school?

I have a friend who started off in a 4 yr university to get her BSN. She failed out after the first semester due to some personal stress. She applied to the community college and did a 1 year LPN program. She worked as a LPN for a year and did applied to the community college again and bridged to get her RN. She just graduated last Saturday with her RN. She will be attending classes online this fall for RN to BSN.

So, it's possible. If you really want to be a nurse, there are more ways than one to achieve your goal.

Good luck to you!

So sorry to hear you didn't make it! It's difficult to be a freshman. I agree with other posters, you really need to take the time to figure out why you failed and then you need a game plan to succeed. Can you go part time at a technical college? I love my tech school and feel that I am getting a great education. My plan is to do my 2yr, work, and then go for my BSN.

I'm part time and just finished my 3rd semester. This was my plan.

Now, go figure out a plan for yourself and make that dream happen :wink2:

Our teachers advised some of our students 1/2 way through second semester to drop b/c their test scores were not good. Only 1 listen, the rest stayed....and passed. Lesson: listen to there advise but make your own path!:D

What were the reasons you were kicked out? I know my school, if you failed both clinical and lecture, you are automatically out and cant come back. I know most schools, you allowed to repeat one nursing course.
