Hello there. I would really love some advice about what you nurse managers and hospital HR folks think would be the top 5 skills/competencies would be for a RN candidate for a Med/Surg position?

I'm not a nurse manager but I can tell you on that unit you may want to elaborate on your ability to be flexible and deliver professional nursing care.

I would put things out of the ordinary in there. I have insulin drips, heparin drips, acute stroke interventions

I'm not sure what you mean. Do you have med-surg experience already? I do, and on my resume I list the technologies and skills I have experience with (admissions, discharges, management of surgical wounds, dressings and drains, PCA pumps, IV therapy, management of peripheral IV lines and central lines, patient teaching, all routes of medication administration, etc. There is a hundred of skills, I just picked the really important ones.
I listed all the above items as a bulleted list for easier reading and simplicity.
Recruiters have looked at it and said it looks very good. I made sure everything fits on one page because HR people don't have much tolerance for long resumes.
