Can someone share what the hourly rate is at this hospital for an RN with almost two years experience? Thanks everyone!

New nurse
I do not think my BSN is a waste at all. I know that I have other options with it other than working in the hospital and I have been actively pursuing them. Education is always what you make of it, before, during, and most certainly after!

Is it bad that I have no interest in working on Med/Surg floor?
I would apply to what you are interested in. Nursing can be challenging, frustrating, and rewarding amongst other feelings. Hopefully, if you apply to a unit that you are interested in you won't spend your days off looking for a new job. I graduated knowing that I had no desire to work in medsurg and I went straight to the NICU and now almost two years later I am trying to transition into another unit. I am noticing that I am labeled the "Nicu Nurse" which is not cool because in my opinion I am an RN first and I happen to be employed within the NICU. It is a little irritating trying to break away from this label because I have met many denials, but if I absolutely hated the NICU I would be in a tough situation right now.

Key skills to highlight for a Med/Surg Resume?
I'm not a nurse manager but I can tell you on that unit you may want to elaborate on your ability to be flexible and deliver professional nursing care.

Which NP specialties make the most money?
True. I was told that overall Psych NP is well compensated throughout the US and I know that is the case here in NY. My friend that is a FNP happens to work in NY also so that may explain the increased salary and the fact that her workday consists of seeing patients from 8am to 6pm almost non-stop.

NRP, PALS, or STABLE to help my resume?
I think you should take them because it will look like you are proactive in progressing into your career. With that said, the above posters are correct that you will need NRP and/or STABLE when you are hired and most hospitals will have you take it again. Mine had me take BLS and NRP even though my BLS was current. It would be wise to invest your time in creating a portfolio highlighting academic achievements and display the certifications during your interview. Good Luck!

Single vs. Double lumen
My hospital always uses a single lumen.
