That is where I will be going starting this spring....start nursing school in Fall 07.....Have any pointers or suggestions for me....LOL:nuke:

It's actually a very good program, and the instructors are great and very helpful (for the most part ha ha). Your program will be a little different than mine because we're switching this summer to semesters and that's kind of thrown the organization for a loop, but we're told it all evens out in the end.

Best advice I can give is just to prepare to be challenged and pay attention to what and how the instructors tell you to study. It really is a different way of thinking and approaching problems.

Are you taking prereqs spring quarter?

Not too far from you where I worked for years. I'm now in

Florida as it's my home state but lived and worked in Louisa for long time. Talk about culture shock!! Actually learned much more there than in the larger teaching hospitals I worked at such as UK.

Hey, I am from Southeast KY. Went to SECC (KCTCS) Comm. College. I am a LPN. I wonder if anyone is on here from my area?

Micro will be challenging this summer I think because it will be only a 7 (?) week course due to the switch. Ouch!

I don't have any idea how the new students coming in will have their program structured. It's a big secret :lol2: . It's not even up on their website yet...

I know that usually psych is a 2nd year (winter quarter) class, but thanks to the switch I'll have it spring quarter this year. But I don't know if they plan to keep it as a first year class or it will go back to part of the 2nd year for new students... Who knows!

Which part did you work at KD......Any certain reason why you left?

I worked in the ICU, the reason i left was mostly the understaffing, required on call, etc. Everyone was screaming and no one was listening so I left after around 5 months. I signed a 2 yr contract but the risk wasnt worth loosing my license.

So you had to be on call to work ICU....I had thought about trying to get on at kd after I finished school....and had thought about ICU..... when u hired in you had to sign a 2 year contract?.....I am new to how they hire....i was going to try to do the student loan forgiveness program....but I don't know if the hospitals around here offer it.....what was your starting pay?? I was told that OLBH starts out more money????
