Kennesaw State Uni. Spring 2014 Nursing

Published

Hey!

Has anyone applied to KSU for the Spring 2014 program?

That sounds right but I'm wondering if it's different for the spring. I looked at the interview slots and there are 120 interviews being given. They usually accept more for the traditional program or maybe they didn't have as many applicants so they're accepting a higher rate :) we'll find out soon I hope! Do yall know when people received their letter after the interview? For fall it was over a month after the interviews finished but that seems kinda late to get everything done before spring!

It may seem kinda late but unfortunately it's right. In the letter they mailed out they said that there would be a meeting to discuss applicants after all the interviews were done and we would be notified three to four weeks after that.

In other discussions on this forum I read that there are typically less applicants for spring semester but not usually by a huge amount.

JoannaSmith - where do you see the interview slots?

If I recall correctly, they have fewer people applying for spring, but also accept fewer students. I think it's 30 for accelerated and 70 for traditional, as opposed to 40/80... I could be wrong. I think the 15-hour/week summer session us spring students have to take is pretty intense. Fall students have a 12-hour/week summer session, and it's 3 semesters in, after some may have dropped out.

Edit: ^ referring to the accelerated program

@PinkLady22- Let me be your light of hope here..I applied for this nursing school THREE times and got denied. THREE. Fall 2012, Spring 2013, Fall 2013, and FINALLY getting an interview with Spring 2014. The first two semesters I applied for, I had taken my TEAS twice already and my highest score was a 76, so I was pretty certain I wasn't getting in aside from my high GPA. I was BAFFLED when I didn't get an interview for fall, because I felt that my application was pretty competitive and heard of people with lower GPAs/TEAS scores getting interviews. I was totally upset and each semester I was persistent with Fran and she suggested I retake my freshman math course for an A (to apply with 4/5 As of the top 5 math/sciences they look at). I did as she suggested and also kept in CONSTANT contact with her this summer regarding my progress in the course and what not. I got the A I needed and also ended up with an interview. Go talk to Fran in her office and see what you need to do. She can be intimidating at first, but she is an incredibly sweet and helpful woman once you take the chance to talk with her and have an open mind versus being upset about being denied (because trust me, I know how you feel). I went into her office upset this last spring (after being denied for fall) and made it known that I felt like I deserved this and was a hard working student who was incredibly capable of succeeding in Kennesaw's program. Needless to say, I waited all summer and the Friday before classes started this semester I was given an override to take Patho with the nursing students who were accepted for fall (this is the only class I'm taking obviously lol). So moral of my rant-- do NOT give up. Work with them and show them you are dedicated to not only your courses but to Kennesaw and they will eventually work with you.

However, if you are wanting to transfer, West Ga and Ga State's applications for Spring are due October 1st! So there are still options out there! Keep in mind though you need to get into the university itself before applying to their nursing schools. Ga State's application for nursing is quite extensive with rec letters/essays, so if you decide to consider that an option, start that ASAP!

I'm sorry to hear about your situation, but don't give up! You'll look back after you have graduated with your BSN and realize it was just a bump in the road :)

^^^ Sorry for the essay up there, ya'll! ;)

That was excellent advice you gave jlsmith21. It is so discouraging to apply and not get accepted and have to wait a whole other semester and you waited 3 times! I think they're really looking for that though because I've heard a lot of people saying that it took multiple tries before they were accepted.

McEm - I signed up for the interview and it listed all the choices available. They have 12 interviews a day for ten days. 15 hours in the summer is very intense - but at least it will be doable and we'll finish faster! Will you be working as well?

I'm trying to save up enough money so I don't have to work. Also applying for several scholarships and taking out loans.

Hi all.

Couple of Questions for anyone who would like to answer!

So I graduated in May therefore I have not applied for Financial Aid for this school year. IF I make it through the interview and I am accepted I will not have a FAFSA on file for the 2013-2014 school year. SOOO WHAT DO I DO???

For those of you who are applying for the Georgia State Nursing program. I am hitting some issues with SNHP 3000 and NURS 2010 course that you are "suppose" to have taken at GSU. I've tried emailing and getting them over ridden because I have plenty of classes that should cover those pre-requisites. The only problem is that they want me to send the syllabus for each of those courses and I did not keep them...nor have I had any professor help me to send me one. My question.. for those of you who got approved for the over ride what courses did you send in? And does any one have their syllabus (FROM KSU) in the classes COMM 1109, PSYC 3305??

-For GSU applicants...when it says "We will only administer and accept the TEAS exam" does that mean I had to of taken the TEAS on their campus or that I just needed to take the TEAS 5.0 version of the exam??

-I no longer live in Kennesaw since I graduated so where is everyone doing these mock interviews???

My MIL is in financial aid. She says you can do your FAFSA at anytime (up until June 30th of next year) to receive funds (Pell*, Stafford Loans) for the 2013-14 year. If you do it now, it should be on file before Spring starts.

The mock interviews are being set up through Career Services at KSU.

I may still have a syllabus for 3305 on my computer. I'll take a look.

*If you already have a degree, you can't get Pell, or a lot of other aid beyond Stafford loans, unfortunately. :(

any idea as to how they make the final admission decision? is it gpa+teas+interview or just the interview?

I'm curious about this as well.

I haven't posted anything on here yet, but I've been lurking. So today is tuesday and the interview section still says "interview sessions are full" does this still say this for anyone else? I wanted to follow the rules and actually sign up when the letter said, but now I'm worried. I guess I'll have to call them.
