Kennesaw State Spring 2009

Published

I have applied to the accelerated program for the Spring 2009 semester. Does anyone know when they let you know about your acceptance...or when you can interview for a spot?

Orientation is December 15th, and we have to have CPR certifications and all health records in by then. Also I just registered for Spring classes yesterday.

Has anyone who is on standby been notified that they are now accepted? I emailed Fran about 3 weeks ago and she said they had pulled 2 off the accelerated list and none off traditional.

Anyone heard anything....? I thought that maybe some people who got into GSU would decline KSU since it is all the way in Jasper for the accelerated program...maybe I was wrong. I'm waiting and waiting....

hello to all! I am looking at the KSU Traditional BSN program. what kind of gpa is needed for acceptance? I am trying to decide if its even worth applying to KSU. I have heard how hard it is to get in. Currently, I have a 3.46 overall gpa(85 hours)/ a 3.6 pre-req gpa for the nursing....

Why would you not bother to apply? Your GPA sounds fine! More importantly, how many Cs and Ds do you have on your overall transcript? And, what were your grades in the prereqs?

I strongly encourage you to apply!

If I were you, I'd go ahead and turn in your acceptance to GSU and sign up for classes..you can always drop the classes and bail out if you get into KSU. People do that all the time, which is why people on standby don't find out until the last minute..b/c of situations like yours. It's common and expected, I wouldn't worry about it.

I had also applied to the Summer semester for KSU..any ideas when I might find out about that...the deadline to apply was Aug 31st?

Guys-

It won't matter much. At GSU, the classes are all on the same day at the same time and the labs are either thursday or friday (as an example)

KSU is pretty the same: there is one section of a class in Rome on Tuesday and labs are on Wednesday morning and the other class is on Friday with zero flexibility. Besides, you won't be eligible for registration at KSU until final registration if you weren't taking classes at KSU last semester.

I bet next semester is the same for you. It is for me.

Hey rn2beatlanta,

I have heard that it is almost impossible to get in unless you have a stellar transcript. I have quite a few(6) W's from when i didnt have the right mindset for college.I also have 1 F in bio( from 4 yrs ago) but retook it and made an A. To me, the W's and the F would mean an automatic dismissal by the admissions committee.

My grades in prerequisites are as follows:

mathmodeling-A. Bio -A , AP 1:B, AP1 lab:A; AP II &Lab: A, MBIO:A, Stat:A, CHEM I&II: B with A in Lab, Human Growth:A, Psych 1101:A

...I have A's in 2 soci classes but still need to take intro soci.

This is my first semester in the program so I know what kind of numbers it takes...I still don't see why you shouldn't apply. I had Ws. One D (from 10 years ago) and your prereqs look fine. You could always email Fran Herzig and ask her about your issue.

Good luck

Victoria

rn2beatlanta,

If you don't mind me asking.....what would you say the average GPA is of those of your program? Also, how do they assign campus locations?

Hey everyone! Sorry I know this is kind of a random question, but I was reading this thread and saw where several of you were accepted to Kennesaw or have applied in the past to Kennesaw. Does anyone know about how long it takes after the interview to find out if you have been accepted or not? Thanks! Beth

I would actually say the overall GPA is close to 3.1 or 3.2. Prereqs more like 3.7 or so.

This is my guesstimate!

Finally, they don't assign campuses, its done by semester. All of the fall accelerateds go to Rome, every fall for two semesters and then come home. Every spring, there are accelerateds that stay on campus for all four semester. I don't know about Jasper but my guess is that its doene the same way.

You could always apply for Spring if you prefer to wait to go to main campus.

Hey ladies,

For me, after the interview the wait was almost unbearable!! It took about 3 weeks. Whenever I'd call or email about when we would get them, they'd say they we being mailed that day, but then they would never show up...sit tight!

As far as how they assign campuses, from what I have been told, all trad students go to the KSU campus. Depending on the semester, accelerated students go to Rome in Fall, Jasper & KSU in Spring, and KSU in summer. However, this spring, ALL students are going to Jasper and there is NO accelerated program next summer. Fran told me that when two different campuses are in question, they supposedly decide by your address, but I'm not sure I really believe that!!

Best of luck on your letter...hopefully you won't be like me and have the interview and then get the letter stating you are on standby...so I am still waiting!

For those who have been admitted, does anyone know what the lowest TEAS score to be accepted has been, i actually had below 80 and was called for the summer 09 interview but as most of you know waiting for that letter is a horrible experience
