Hey! I was just wondering if anyone has gone through the interview process at Kennesaw. I have one coming up and was wondering what questions they ask. Also, how is the interview structured? I would appreciate any advice!

Thanks!

Rebekah: I just bought it this morning (in the pouring rain) after I realized it was my last time at school this week! I'm all about the last minute. See you Sat. Teri

Don't worry about classes. Fran will take care of all of that stuff!

You do need a good stethoscope to pass the cardio quiz and I haven't lost my yet.

Stop checking your mailbox. They are notoriously behind with their mailings semester after semester.

Rebekah, I am also new to KSU and have to wait until orientation to register. You know orientation is the same time and date as the fitting for our uniforms. We will have to sneak out at some point I guess. The weather is supposed to be horrible on Saturday everyone please be careful driving to CPR class. See you all soon.

Just finished my first semester. I can give you some hints. Stay organized. There is ALOT of work and it goes fast - get your house organized now and have a place for all the books and papers. Keep a good calendar with all the upcoming assignments and need to do. Do the drug calc they recommend before classes start - there is little time to do it during the semester and it's a good way to get ahead. I open for any questions!

I think I just met Teri.

Peacelovejoy: how are you finished with exams? I don't finish until Tuesday. Jealous!

My advice:

1. The assessment book: learn the values on pages 9-15. They are lab values and you will need to know them for Holistic. Make flashcards.

2. Make Med/Term Flashcards

3. Make Acid/Base Flashcards

4. Review skills CDs

5. Complete some of the learning modules in lab manual. I would start with vital signs and glucoses. (Those things are a pain and the lab instructors check your book at checkoff and you don't want to be stuck doing them the night before the lab.)

******Side NOTE: There are only FIVE learning modules for first semester: Vitals, glucose, wounds, Range of Motions, PO meds, and Injection meds. You do not need to do to IVs, any of the peds stuff, blood or starting an IV access device.

6. Learn the rules in the student handbook for dosage calc. If you mess up, it will be because you messed your rules up.

Do NOT complete your physical exam too early. This will necessitate you having to have two physicals in nine months because they are due before the semester starts.

Anybody else want to add on here?

Victoria: It was me you met! You were so incredibly helpful. I have a list for the rest of you I will post after my Organic Chem final. Study Hard! Teri

Hello,

My name is Amanda and I will be starting in the Summer as well. I hope everyone is having a great summer. I checked my Web CT account and there is basic important info about our classes on there, like a syllabus and things like that. Make sure to check under the announcements part.

So when you get a chance checking Web CT is helpful....

The link is http://vista.kennesaw.edu/

but you can go to KSU main page... then click shortcuts for current students and then Web CT Vista...

If anyone needs any help with Web CT let me..

Have a blessed week..

i know this is an old discussion; i have an interview for the spring 2011 traditional program in a few weeks. any recommendations on how to prepare for the interview?

Specializes in asking questions..

Hi!

I went through the interview process a couple of years ago (... Fall, 07? I think?) So I don't know if anything's changed since them. But here is my advice:

Smile! Be friendly! I had a panel interview with 3 people around a table. They asked me pretty standard questions like: what are your strengths? weaknesses? how do you time manage? tell us about a time when you made a mistake. Tell us about a time you showed leadership. Why are you interested in nursing? Why do you feel you would be a good nurse? Nursing school is hard, how do you know you are prepared to be a nurse?

Have an example to back up every question they ask, and don't stress out too much! lol. A couple of times I had to pause to think of a good example, but I was accepted into the program, so the pauses must have been ok. :)

Also don't forget to have a few questions prepared to ask them at the end! very important.

Good luck!
