Kennesaw State BSN Summer 09

Published

Hey! I was just wondering if anyone has gone through the interview process at Kennesaw. I have one coming up and was wondering what questions they ask. Also, how is the interview structured? I would appreciate any advice!

Thanks!

Finally 2008 you are so right. I checked with a couple nurses at work and they also told me to make sure I get a Littmann's because they are top quality. TJ(Terri) I really like the breast cancer special edition Littmann's on the Meridy's website from the information packet. I have been trying to surf the net to find it at a cheaper price. Did you say the Fall schedule is out? I hope it looks better than the summer.

I only knew one person with the Littman Cardiac III. It was pretty awesome, that is for sure! But, it is not really needed. I have the Littman Classic SE and it has been great---lots of nurses loved borrowing it, but even so I was one of the few with a stethoscope that fancy. I also know people who bought their stethoscopes from the school store and they were fairly decent....Here's another tidbit of info: When you are learning vital signs, you will have to do a "Check off" of those skills. When you are practicing with your friends or lab partner, use the double stethoscopes that you can borrow in the lab (from the lab assistant). That is what you will use during the checkoff with the instructor, so it is good to get used to being that close to someone else (when your own heart is POUNDING in your ears from nervousness....)

Finally 2008, a few nurses at work told me that it is easy to lose the stethoscopes so they ended up having to buy two or three. Did you find this to be the case also? Or were you able to hold on to your same stethoscope throughout the entire program? Just wondering because the Littmann's cost a little more than the others.

Yes, I heard the same thing, but I do still have the same stethoscope that I started the program with. There was one time I let someone borrow it and almost lost it! You just have to be vigilant about knowing where it is. I just found that if you can hear the sounds that you need to hear, it makes things sooo much easier!

I am pouting! I did not get my orientation packet, yet. Now I am going to be running to the mailbox....waiting.... AGAIN. LOL.

Speaking of stethoscopes, I have a story!!!! I have wanted to go to nursing school since I was 17 but this little thing called "life" happened. You have all heard the story - "Small town girl gets married too young, has kids, gets divorced, goes back to college." So, as you can imagine, entrance into the program is a major, big deal to me, my family, my children, and my friends. When I got my acceptance letter, I told everyone that my gift to myself was going to be a good, quality stethoscope. Well, a wonderful friend of mine surprised me by buying me a Littman Cardiology III. I was obviously floored because that is not a cheap gift! It has been on backorder for two weeks though, and I haven't been able to use it yet. I can't wait to get it and see what all the fuss is about!

Hey, everyone I just got off the phone with Markisha she said they are changing the drug test/criminal background check date from June 1st to June 3rd. She said the date on the information packet is definitely incorrect. She said she will be emailing the new date to everyone shortly. DTD, you definitely deserve the top of the line stethoscope your story is inspiring. You must share it with your new friends just kidding.

If you go to allheart.com today you can get an additional 17% off if you spend over $99. I went ahead and ordered the Litmann Cardiology III. First, this website is cheaper than any other, AND taking the additional 17% off made it an even better deal. Code is SP7TN99 if you cannot find it. Supposedly it expires today. Teri

good morning 143trinity

do you remember any interview questions??

Hey guys, I am registering tomorrow but noticed that all the patho seats are almost gone and there are only a hand full of nursing majors registered in the nursing classes. Have you guys already taken it? Am I behind?

Renea

I registered yesterday and everything was open....If you can't get in, e-mail Fran and she will kick someone out who isn't registering for nursing. She told me we have priority over that class. Teri

Hey, are you guys current students? I'm a new student and the system won't register yet. They want me to register at the transfer student orientation on April 28. I can't believe that class is already full. Are there really only 20 people in the summer nursing group since that is the number of seats in that class? Do they just kick other people out? I'll just trust that Fran can get it all worked out for me when I get there. Rebekah

RJS-The class is really not full. There are approx. 75 spots in Patho. The reason they held it to 20 is so all of us get a chance to register. They do that each semester because we have priority. Please don't worry about when you register, you already have a spot. You won't get shut out of anything. Welcome to KSU! Teri

Thanks for the info Teri. One less thing to worry about. I'm looking forward to meeting you guys on Saturday at the CPR class. Now I just have to figure out when I can get to the bookstore to buy the book. Leaving things to the last minute as usual! Rebekah
