Kennesaw State BSN Summer 09

U.S.A. Georgia

Hey! I was just wondering if anyone has gone through the interview process at Kennesaw. I have one coming up and was wondering what questions they ask. Also, how is the interview structured? I would appreciate any advice!

Thanks!

Thanks for the info. I will look into stethoscopes. Is anyone working on calculations yet? My friend who started in Fall told me to know all of that BEFORE entering. She told me what Calculations book to buy so I'm slowly working through it (and Chem 1152). I, too cannot wait to finally get going!

O.k TJ now you are stressing me out what calculations book do we need? Maybe they will give us all that info at orientation. My semester is easy right now I would like to get a jump start too. Thanks for any help.

Please KO, I don't want to stress you out...My friend had me go to the bookstore to buy "Calculate With Confidence" (in the Nursing Section). She said the hardest part of her first semester was passing some math test before you can start clinicals. Her advice to me was get the book (it's 24 chapters) and be able to pass the exam in the back of the book BEFORE walking in the door on day 1. She said if she had known that info going into the program, it would have made a world of difference. She also had a 15 week semester...we only have 8 weeks.

I will talk to her this weekend to see if there are any other tips and I'll be sure to pass them on...

Thank you TJ. Every bit of advice helps I still have about 3 more prereq classes I have to take(art, economics, literature) and I was going to try to take those our first semester thinking I could knock them all out in the summer. One of the nurses who works with me told me that was a bad idea because of the short semester we are starting out with. She said two years ago when she attended kennesaw she tried to take two classes her first semester(theatre, literature) in the fall and she failed her holistic nurse course by a few points. She said she was devasted. I thanked her for the advice and I also thank you as well. We need each other to make it thru this process.

Hey Guys-

There is not much of a thread going yet for Fall 2009 since we are waiting for interview letters. But Congrats to those of you that have been accepted. I was wondering if any of you would mind sharing your "application information" with me. I just want to try to gauge my chances of being offered an interview. Like Overall GPA, Teas, Pre-req scores....I am freaking out waiting for these letters, but my grades are not so good, so I am looking for some hope. :) Thanks for any help you can provide.

I am not sure what to tell you because you hear so many different things. Some people say you have to make a 80 or better on the TEAs. I have also heard that you need to have a total of 7 A's in your pre-req classes out of the 12 they are looking for. My gpa is 3.8 and I didn't think I would get called for an interview because I did not make a 80 on the TEAS I made a 75.8. But I met a girl who also got called for an interview and her gpa was 2.79 but she made a 90 something on the TEAS. So I guess they take a lot of factors into consideration I don't think it is really cut and dry.

FYI: Schedules are out for summer! Doesn't look too bad! :) TJ

Tj looks like we are going to be in class all day mon-thur with clinicals on fri. Bring it on baby:yeah:I think I am ready for the challenge.

That does look like a tough schedule! I was talking to my friend that is in the nursing program now and she said that the second time for Nurs 3209 we only go to for the first 2 weeks. So after two weeks we will only have class from 8 to 1145 on Tue/Thur...not too bad!

Thanks for checking with your friend... now tues and thurs look a lot better. That will definitely give us more time to study or try to spend some time with the family in the evening.

First of all, I want to wish all of you the best of luck as you begin your KSU nursing school adventure. I just graduated in December. I do want you to be aware, however, that starting in the summer will be one of the most challenging things you will have ever done. I had to smile at the above post that said you will have more time for friends and family....in summer, just know that you will be very, very busy!

The other thing I wanted to say was that I agree that getting a dosage calculations book will be helpful, but unless you just need to brush up on basic math, you do not need to go through that whole book. There is no need to be studying fractions, etc.....Here is my suggestion: Once you get the practice test for the dosage calculations test (they will give you one) go back into the book and find all the questions you can that are similar to those given. The practice test is very representative of what the actual test will be. Know your conversions (they give those that you are expected to know).

Finally, find some people with whom you can connect as soon as you can. find a study buddy or a study group. Seek out those in the semester ahead of you and ask their advice. You will need all the help you can to manuever through this program. As I said before, it is very challenging. I could not have made it without my nursing school friends who could relate to what I was going through. They mean the world to me now!

If you have any further questions, feel free to PM me! Good Luck!!

Finally nice to meet you. I am the crazy person who thought we would have some free time during the summer semester, thank you for the reality check . Your advice is greatly appreciated. Congratulations on making it thru the program . I sent you a pm.
