Keiser (Wolford) CRNA 2019 Applicants

Published

I have applied to Keiser University CRNA program in Naples, FL for 2019.. anyone else planning to or already applied there for 2019? Anyone starting in January 2019? Please do not comment about the school being a "last resort" school as seen in past threads and posts. This thread is intended solely for current and future applicants applying in 2019. If you had interviewed at Keiser before, please provide some insights.

they asked me basic questions about anesthesia.

1. how is preload affected by anesthesia drugs.

2. how does sodium levels affect anesthesia. This question I had no idea. I told them that and then they asked me the first questio

3. I went into the interview knowing exactly how each drug worked, receptor sites, how they affected hr, bp, co2, and what drug was best to use to raise bp without affecting heart and what drug causes reflex bradycardia.

That was my level of preparation, I went over the top to make sure I gave myself the best possible chance

Hey everyone!

Thanks so much for this wonderful and very enlightening thread! This school is definitely on my list of applying to for January 20’. Was wondering if anyone who has applied has been accepted under the provision that they finish a class? I still have to take one more chemistry class this fall so I will be finished in December before the program starts in January. Just not sure how they feel about that? Any insight is helpful!

Also, I had seen on their website that the program is being re-evaluated for becoming a DNAP for the year 2020... is this still true or is it just MSNA?

Thank you!

Hey STICUBSN

i can completely guarantee you that you can have classes pending when you apply / go for the interview. I had 2 classes pending and I got a provisional acceptance until I completed them. My experience for the interview was very positive. It was just a personality interview and they just asked me what kinda patients I deal with . Good luck on your application

I gotta say, my interview was different from what I have heard is the norm. What I have heard is that the interview is relatively laid back and made to help you feel comfortable with no clinical questions. Mine was also pretty laid back but I was asked 2 clinical questions. Most interviews last roughly 15 min, mine was 45 min.

I studied drugs, anesthesia, and how being a RN will help me excel as a CRNA. I studied how the heart is affected. I looked up questions they may ask and made sure I had a good answer for it. I didnt want to stumble. I wanted to show confidence that I deserve a chance to show u I have what it takes

Hey j.jones4174,

What were the 2 clinical questions they asked you?

Thank you in advance

2 clinical questions I was asked.

1. How does hypo hyper natremia affect anesthesia.

2. how do anesthesia drugs affect preload

Thank you all so much for the great feedback!

Is there anyone that is currently in the program? If so, how do you feel the program is preparing you to be an advanced provider?

Very well. The classes have been in-depth and the instructors are geared towards your success. The true learning phase really starts in clinical, which begins in September for my class.

My interview is tomorrow 945. So far loving Naples. Thanks for interview tips. I’m nervous but prepared (I hope!). Anyone else tomorrow?

That’s awesome!

If you could please update us periodically throughout your clinical and let us know how that’s going, it would be much appreciated!

ICU/EMTP:

I am thinking of applying to this program, likely for January because I’m behind the power curve for September. I just had a couple questions.

The handbook says you must pass the course with a “B” but does not give a percentage. Do they consider a B as 80% or is it 83%?

Also, do you know their attrition rate for this year and last?

Thank you for any info you can give.
