Keiser University CRNA 2020 Applicants

Published

Good morning everyone, with the last Keiser CRNA class of 2019 filled, I thought it best to start the thread for the cohorts beginning in 2020. I am applying for the Spring 2020 cohort and last I heard, it was still undecided whether they will be doing a doctorate cohort, masters cohort, or both. I was informed that they will only be considering applicants who have all the requirements completed (which I guess they used to allow conditional acceptance). I have had my finger on the pulse of Keiser and the CRNA program for the past couple years and have a bunch of information and questions. I hope you find this forum useful in your career decisions and best of luck in your applications.

Just accepted in to the August 2020 cohort. Anyone know if there a group somewhere to join for this cohort. Also any advice on used first semester books would be great.

CONGRATS. When did you interview? Do you know if they have any spots left for August?

don't buy a single book the first semester. U don't need a single one. I would only recommend buying book for anesthesia mngt which is by jaffe. It is the only book I have ever used on a continued basis.

Now what u should buy.. a solid touch screen computer. Ipad so that when you read online books u can answer questions on computer while reading from iPad.

Interviewed last Wednesday. Got accepted 45 minutes after the interview through email. From what I understand there are still a few spots available. Unsure if they filled with other applicants that day or not.

CONGRATS. I won't get the opportunity to meet u as ill be starting first semester of clinicals when u start class

Good school and your going to learn a ton

So don’t buy any books for the first semester? I have an older MacBook Pro and a newer iPad. Do you think I should upgrade to a newer touchscreen laptop? Also any advice on places to live would be great.

I’ll be starting the MSN program August 31st. I found a nearby apt. (10min drive) called Laguna Bay apartments, looks decent and it’s close. But my wife and I looked around and there’s a ton of places in the area really. Good luck!

Is Laguna Bay 10 minutes from current campus or the new campus opening in October

10 minutes from the current campus. Do you know where the new campus will be located exactly?

I believe this is the address but I’m flying right now and would have to confirm when I get off tonight. 4001 Tamiami trail E

If you need to get any ? I suggest the Nurse Anesthesia Book from Nagelhout and Clinical Anesthesia (Barash) since those 2 you will get to use them again the following semester (e-books I suggest since they are cheaper). Don’t get the A&P or pharmacology book. However, definitely the APA 7th edition book. But even that book they have limited copies of it at the library that you can use.

As far as a computer ?, it’s great you also have an IPAD you can buy app/software such as Notability to use and take notes with. And our tests are computer based via respondus/lockdown browser. Just make sure your older Mac ? can handle the lockdown browser without making it slow since our tests are timed, and with COVID we will be doing some live classes through Keiser Live, if your older mac runs great you should be OK. If not. Start thinking about getting a new one, like a macbook air or something. Congratulations on your acceptance ?.

Does anyone have the curriculum? I only see a list of classes on the website, not an organized plan of course in each semester. If anyone has this info, I’d really appreciate it!

Go to their website and download the student handbook for the program, The curriculum is in there in addition to the amount of the clinical hours and cases needed to graduate.
