keeping records on staff members

Hi! I have been told in the past it's not a good idea to keep records on staff members who see me. Now, at another facility I am in trouble for NOT keeping records on staff members! Has anyone had this issue? Thoughts?

I once asked for any info they wanted to shared and asked them to put it in an sealed envelope and I would hand it over to EMS if needed...got my hand slapped from Admin...

I don't. Unless they leave by ambulance.

Same.

Our business office keeps track of employee health stuff. Come to think of it, the only thing they keep track of is Hep B immunizations for "Code Blue" team members.

I called EMS for 2 staff (separate instances) last year and filled out part of an "employee injury" form for the district, even though neither incident was an injury.

I do have staff confide in me if there is something going on with their health- mostly pregnancies, a funky rash a couple of years ago (he got a full work up and everything was OK thank goodness), and one ocular cancer diagnosis. I'm sure there are plenty who choose not to confide in me as well. It would be helpful to know, but not necessary in my mind.

Same. I just shrug and let those staff members share what they want to share. They are adults.

My standing order for epi does cover staff if needed, though.
