IMO, I did not feel that Kaplan was worth the money. I just got done taking a live class 2 weeks ago, and they really didnt tell me anything I did not already know. ( all they did was stand there and read questions) I also found myself answering the questions without using the decision tree, which I felt did not help anyway. I wish I would have saved the money, and got right to the books and questions.

I do know this...the instructor said that the Kaplan questions are more difficult then the NCLEX exam. As my freinds did as well. I think they may get you all worked up so that you do go nuts, study like crazy because you think you are doing poorly, in turn you pass, so they do not have to refund your money, lol

Have you thought of taking the Hurst Review. You can even take it online for 90 days.

I did Hurst and Kaplan.

In my opinion, the HURST review helped out a lot with general knowledge and they "watered" everything down to the point where it's so easy to understand and memorize.

Kaplan was beneficial in the question banks.

I literally had 4 to 6 questions from the kaplan bank directly on my NCLEX exam.

Hope that helps!

I was wondering if the Hurst review really worked! I have a friend thru a friend who just took her LPN nclex for the second time and passed with flying colors. She said she took the Hurst review in Richmond, Va and it cost about $300, and it was M-F, where can I find this place. I'm not an online person, I have to be there and see it, please email back with info if you know anything, or someone who has taken it, and do I have to drive to Richmond for this course, thanks

That's the website you can go to to perform a search for review classes in person.

I did a quick search and came up with a date of 8/25 to 8/28 for a live review in person.

It always says M-Thursday 8 to 5 but at times you got out early, around 3 or so with all the materials covered.

Hope this helps!

Everyone has their own style of learning but if you fail a couple of times then review that style and try something else. Some people don't have the money to pay for reviews so use what other resources they can afford. Don't over do it with too many resources as things can blur and information mix up

If you are looking to save, just buy the QBank questions from Kaplan and skip the class. I did both but could have done without sitting in a classroom during summer. Otherwise, I supplemented my learning with Saunders questions (the big book of 3000+ questions) and found that to be convenient.

I just passed NCLEX, after taking it twice before. I took Kaplan online and did all the Q Bank questions until I completed them all and then answered them until I got the question right. I recommend Cram Exam by Pearson. I think it helped me the most. I did the CD that came with the book. I am now an R.N. Best of Luck! Don't give up.

so you dont think kaplan helped u as much as cram exam? .. did cram exam or kaplan have a lot of infection control and priority questions? those are the questions i want to focus on, because i too need to take my nclex again.

I took Kaplan and it did help me with the priortization skills. The actual NCLEX test was unlike ANY test that I have done before. Its a test to see how you critically think. It's more of a psychological test than anything!

My diagnostic test was 65.6%, my Qbank tests were all over the place from 57-78% and my readiness test was 70% on Kaplan. So perhaps I knew enough to pass without it................but it gave me the extra push I needed to feel confident.

I also studied "some" Saunders, did one ATI test ( nothing like the actual NCLEX)!!!! and googled diseases and lab values.

All in all, I do feel that Kaplan was benificial for me. Others in my class passed without it. I passed with it. Just depends on your study habits and what works best for you.

Good luck!

I got on the CDC website and made sure I knew what diseases needed what precautions. Didn't use Cram Exam or Kaplan for that and neither really touched on infection control. CDC gave the most accurate information. (Center for Disease Control). As far as questions and content, I liked Cram Exam. I felt like it made me critically think and I loved the Cram Page that each book has that has all of the things Pearson says you must know to pass. I made sure I knew all those values and information. Hope this helps! Get on ebay and buy a used Cram Exam but make sure you get the disk with it.:nurse:
