  2. Hi folks: Sorry if I am posting in the wrong forum, but looked around and didn't exactly find a perfect location for this post. I graduated about 2 years ago and have done absolutely nothing with the text books I have from school, some of them weren't even opened. Question is, where can I sell them right away for a decent price? Amazon and other listings take a bit, was wondering if there were any websites or stores that will just straight up buy text books from ya for a decent price? Thanks!
  3. Sorry folks, I bet a lot of people on this board will share the same sentiment with me. I thought it would never happen to me but it's actually eating at me so bad that I can't sleep.... I have never failed any test in my career so far and have been out of nursing school for approximately a year now.. This past 3 days I took a course called TNATC, which is an advanced course for trauma nursing. Set up is very similar with ACLS, with class time and lab practicals, we even did a cadaver lab! I passed the practical but failed the written test by 2 questions, made a 76 instead of an 80 to pass. Granted, I can take the test again in a month to get my card but I just can't help but feel embarrassed and a waste of money... anyone have any similar experience..? thanks for listening guys..
  4. So I'm almost a year into garduation working in CCU, I like my job for the most part. Today, I experienced something that I would expect to experience as I progress. My patient was a 80 something years old and had a valvuloplasty, still a bit loopy from the haldol he received. Came back from the cath lab and was on a clear liquid diet with aspiration precaution noted by the Pulmonary team. The patient has had a productive cough all day with thick brownish discharge and tinge of blood (heparin drip). Family fed the patient some blue gatorade without my knowledge and the patient began coughing up blue phlegm. I was already on alert for aspiration but decided to watch it more carefully. I gave the patient his PO meds and he coughed during swallowing. After I left, the patient received some coffee and not even 20 seconds after drinking it, the patient coughed and I suctioned brown, watery phlegm. I called the pulmonary team back with this finding and they advised me to place the patient NPO and a swallow test will be done tomorrow. I advised the family of what is going on and the wife became furious. She had it in her head that I was the one that made the decision for the patient to be NPO and that I was "the devil". I offered some sponge soaked in water so the patient could swab it around his mouth and help the dryness. It didn't appeal to her and she said "who wants a stupid sponge in their mouth." Oh how i HATE families at bedside...
  5. We were given the ATI books for our exit exam. ATI is a pretty content driven and the questions were hard, but I felt like Kaplan style questions best prepared me for my NCLEX. I also did the HURST review. I would really recommend the HURST review for the content part of it. I didn't even open my ATI books and passed the predictor exam with a grade in the 80s just with the HURST review two days before the predictor exam. Kaplan question banks are awesome because I got about 6 questions that were almost word for word on my NCLEX from the question bank.
  6. Some of my friends did not get any math questions on their NCLEX-RN exams, I think it just depends on the computer view your progress as it goes along during the test.
  7. I tried the trick, got blocked. Found out today as of 8 am, that I am a RN !!!! Thanks for this trick guys! GL to all that's waiting!
  8. http://www.hurstreview.com/attend_a_lecture.php That's the website you can go to to perform a search for review classes in person. I did a quick search and came up with a date of 8/25 to 8/28 for a live review in person. It always says M-Thursday 8 to 5 but at times you got out early, around 3 or so with all the materials covered. Hope this helps!
  9. Took mine on the 27th, got the usual message and kept me from going to the CC page. I am really HOPING that is a good sign. The test was terrible, terrifying and no one should have to endure that test more than once in my honest opinion.... Count down to the quick result is about 8 more hours.
  10. I did Hurst and Kaplan. In my opinion, the HURST review helped out a lot with general knowledge and they "watered" everything down to the point where it's so easy to understand and memorize. Kaplan was beneficial in the question banks. I literally had 4 to 6 questions from the kaplan bank directly on my NCLEX exam. Hope that helps!
