Is anyone enrolled in (or has heard of )Kaplan University's online ASN program? According to the school, the courses are taught online and the clinicals are done in the South Florida area. This program is new (provisional status with the Florida BON). I'm thinking of enrolling but am a little apprehensive. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.Staff UpdateIf interested in what others have to say about Kaplan University please take a look at our Kaplan University | Peer Reviews.

I was supposed to be in the March 2009 class and they notified me yesterday that the class was pushed foward to June 10th.. but they are telling me that I do not have a secured seat. I think something strange is going on there with the program. I am just curious if you are in the program or what you thought about them. Thanks

I'm out of state, but I am looking for something I can complete mostly online and then travel to clinical rotation sites. When are clinical rotations held and for how long? Kaplan is stingy with their info. and I don't want them spamming me if I sign up lol :)
PrincessO, MSN, RN, NP 157 Posts Jul 20, 2010 The clinicals are on weekends only; anywhere from 7-5. All theory classes are online clinicals are at local hospitals many in Boca Raton. Pharmacology class has a lab component at the Pembroke Pines location. Hope that helps!

I was pretty excitedKaplan University is all over the US however, this program is only in South Florida so if you call the main number they have no idea of what your taking about. You need to ask for their local number at the Pembroke Pines location or the Nursing Dept. in Chicago.

You just have to search a little harder. You wont find any info on there generic website because as I mentioned this program is specific for South Florida only. Try calling the Pembroke Pines office.
DPSGraduateNurse 149 Posts Jul 30, 2010 Kaplan ADN Program is considered a "pilot program." Their online is only offered if you're a resident in South Florida because you have to complete clinicals on weekends here, locally. The program is very well active. No it is not on their website (hence pilot program) If you call, ask to speak to someone from their Pembroke Pines or any Fort Lauderdale offices (Nursing dept of course). There is no waiting-list. However, they do review each applicants. There is no interview. They will just let you know if you're accepted or not. They only allow 20 full-time students per start. And yes course are online and practicum/clinical work is classroom settings.Hope this helps! :)Source: I am a KU pre-NS student Fall '10.

I actually got into Kaplans program off the wait-list so there is one depending on how many students apply. Also, they say that the problem is for residents of So. Florida only. However, there is a student in my class that commutes from Orlando and another one from Tennessee. I started in Feb 2010 and currently in Med/Surg 1.
