Hello allnurses.com!!! I just enrolled in kaplan and have completed my first 3 question trainers. My scores are
QT1 53
QT2 57
QT3 60
still have to do my diagnostic exam.
I was wondering if anyone who was successful with kaplan with these scores passed the NCLEX. This is my third attempt at the NCLEX. I am very stressed. I have come very close to passing both times. I have been watching the content videos and following along in the text Kaplan sends. I just dont know what to think or do anymore. I havent started the classes yet but I am just soo stressed and discouraged. If anyone can give me any advice it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

QT 1: 60
QT 2: 43 (ran out of time because I got a phone call)
QT 3: 46
QT 4: 55
(didn't do 5,6)
QT 7: 60
Diagnostic: 58
Readiness: 55
I did a TON of QTrainers... got 60% overall. I liked doing it tutor style, but I've seen that most people prefer doing it timed.
Took the NCLEX yesterday and it shut off at 75. My license is on the BON as of 10 minutes ago or so:yeah:

I passed my nclex with these scores:
QT 1 57
QT 2 64
QT 3 48 (haha was in a hurry to do this)
Anyways, QT 1-3 are below the passing level questions so don't really pay attention to your scores and basing your capability to pass based on them. Just review your rationales and keep practicing questions.
Kaplan is really good with test taking strategies but in my honest opinion you really have to know your core content to pass. I heard Saunders is a really good book to review your content. As you are answering questions in your Kaplan Qbanks or Qtrainers, go over those areas that you are weak on. Review them.
I would also like to suggest not doing all the qtrainers at once. Do them once every day and really focus on your content. towards the last week before your exam date, just do practice questions and relax.
Good luck!

Congratulations by the way. :)Thanks for sharing. I take mine mid next week. Taking NCLEX for the first time and I'm honestly nervous. My question trainers Q1 57, Q2 51, Q3 52, Q4 51, Q5 57 and I just did question trainer 6 and got a 58%. Finished the qbank 100% with an average of 57. My scores are just depressing. Kaplan is great I'd say. The questions are definitetly more challenging. I do believe in what you said knowing the core content is a must to pass. But I'm afraid I might not have enough time. I do try to go back on the topics I got wrong. Seeing the scores I've made, would you suggest to review the content for a few days this week and answer afterwards? Or any other suggestions you may have? LOL, I don't know why I'm asking this question when I should know the answer. It's just nerve racking and I'm worried. I have Lacharity book and plan to answer now that I have finished the Kaplan qbank and QT 1-6. Should I be really worried with my scores? Please help. Thanks!
Thanks sir enzyme and mzznurse.. I have just been soo stressed. maybe i'm freaking out a little too much since I havent even started the classes yet but I cant help it.
dl17 have you looked at the content lectures that kaplan has?? they are long but are very good. Good Luck on your boards. Let us know how you did.

Congratulations!!! There is HOPE for me. :) But I wanna ask you, what review materials you think helped you pass NCLEX? Were there any materials you used you found helpful? I'm taking online Kaplan. I have the Lacharity book which I haven't really answered a lot of the questions because I decided to finish Kaplan Qbank and Qtrainers 1-6. I also have NCLEX 4000 and Saunders Q&A. I actually have more NCLEX review sources I'll be honest but I'm mainly using Kaplan and Lacharity. My problem is I'm always down to two answers and unfortunately, I end up choosing the incorrect one. What would you advise on how to answer a question, you totally do not know what disease, medication or diagnostic procedure it's asking? Thank you. Appreciate it. :)
Ibelieve4187, yes I'm trying to go over the content going back to the questions I'd get wrong. I'm not consistent with it though which I know is a problem. I was about halfway reading the RN Kaplan Course book. I stopped because I felt it was too much information and I was leaving answering questions behind. My friends had told me to keep answering questions, then go back the content I got wrong. But anyway, I have watched and listened to the videos but not all of them. I'll do as much review on the content and answer as many questions as I can. My performance is not greatest, but I truly believe I can do it. There is a rainbow after the rain. :)
By the way, did you take yours yet? If not, then the best luck to both of us!
This is my 3rd attempt at the NCLEX and my first attempt at kaplan. I haven't started my classes yet but was just wondering if my scores were ok. I dont really understand kaplans rationale for the scores. I was wondering if anyone could clear that up.
I swear at times I feel like I am never going to pass this. I feel so discouraged at this point.
The instructor told us in class that it Is safe to score at least in the 60's.
If the score is around 50s, she suggest to go over content review. From what I'm doing right now since I'm taking my exam in a short time, I review every rationales and at times go back in the book to review the content. I would review the content most commonly seen on nclex if I have enough time. Can't hurt adding more knowledge into our brains. Lol. But sometimes it just gets overwhelming. I try to critically think on every question. Don't start right into conclusion. I do that at times and feels bad and stupid to have missed such question.
I like answering Kaplan questions. Like I said from a previous post, it challenges me all he time. And I think most of them are high level questions. That's why they're hard and I'm getting those low scores. I'm glad though to be answering this questions. Oh and when u are answering questions, talk it out to yourself. It helps.
I know how you feel. But pleaseeee don't give up! Never have a day you dont answer questions, review a content or listen to an audio lecture. Really understand what you're reading. If you have enough time, go over and over the materials again. Practice makes perfect. I've been reviewing for about a month and half but only been seriously reviewing in the last 2 1/2 weeks. Be seriously confident and believe you can do it. I know that is what I've been implanting in my mind.
