Kaplan.Saunders.NCLEX oh my!

Well as most of you know, i took the NCLEX-RN 6/20/12. I studied religiously and maybe almost obsessively. I graduated w/ a BSN on 5/19, started Kaplan in-seat 5/21-5/24, got my ATT on 5/31.

Once I got my ATT, I was able to plot out when i wanted to start studying and take the test. Approx 1 month after graduation. So for all you Kaplan people.. here are my Qtrainers scores..

Diagnostic: 53%

QTrainer 1: 59%

QTrainer 2: 60%

QTrainer 3: 53%

QTrainer 4: 55%

QTrainer 5: 55%

QTrainer 6: 64%

QTrainer 7: 88%

Readiness: 58%

SO according to kaplan, you should aim for a 65% or > QT1-5 & 60% or > on QT6-7

As you can see i was just shy of that the whole way... and what i dont understand was how i totally blew 6&7 out of the water but did so so on the previous ones. I did notice that i was learning as i was going along whether the scores i got reflected that or not.

The day before my test, I went shopping out to lunch and drinks with a friend of mine to keep me out of the house and my mind of this dang test!!!..I think it did me some good. I highly recommend it.

When test day came around i had a panic attack before i left my house, then when all my friends were sitting there ready for the test i felt a bit better that we could comiserate with each other...

Taking the actual test I just prayed for myself and everyone that we passed and knew the answers. I felt like the questions were like doing another question trainer and maybe even a smidge higher or lower than kaplan q's. So, that was slightly comforting. Finished in 75? and 1hr and like 10min.. i took my time :) I had about 25+ SATA, 1ekg,2calc, 2 ob, 1 picture, a crap ton of priority/delegation and some meds but i knew them thank goodness!

I didnt check for the popup until i got home and my friends pestered me to check. So...i log in and say to my self, i wont register but ill try to look & see what the status is...it said "delivery successful"..i remember seeing that as a good thing..so.., i proceeded.. & i tried to register and i got the "good Pop up"..ive tried it like 6-7 times in the past 24hrs..and its the same.

So, now i just wait til tomorrow for unofficial results...i hope i passed. i would be crushed if i didnt. sigh.

Ill update, when i find out :):redbeathe:nurse:

gravy i hope so LOL

Congratulations Pneumothorax!!!!!!!! :w00t:

Thank you for sharing your Kaplan scores and your experiences with the emotions leading up to THE TEST. I'm still a few days out and am struggling to keep my cool. To say I'm "anxious" is an understatement.

It helps to read the experiences of others - especially seeing that you came out on the other side not only alive, but a SUCCESS!! Congratulations again!

well first of all, congrats!!!!!!! ahhh i can't imagine how good it must feel to be done with this test. i'm sure you did great but waiting for the quick results must be torture. i think i'm going to hide in my bed under my pillows for those 48hrs. lol

so i've been following your posts along because, just like you, i have major anxiety issues!!!! i test on july 5th.... exactly 14 days away, and i'm totally freaking out. but reading your posts about kaplan has really eased some anxiety. i'm studying using kaplan as well. i'm finally done reading the rn course book (did you use this too?), or did you only do questions all throughout? for the next 14 days i'm just going to focus on remediating questions and answering the question trainers. i recently did question trainer 4 and even though a lot of the questions were from left field, i scored a 72%!!

did you use the "********* study guide" as well? *******

well once again congrats to you, and thank you so much for posting your progress. it definitely helps everybody else!!! :)

good luck with the quick results!!

I also noticed you used Saunders?? I have the book and I have been using it as an "extra".. whenever I don't know something I'll look it up there... Did you read that cover to cover? I'm worried because a lot of people on here have used Saunders and I feel I should have read that whole book :x ahh sorry for the million and one questions... just looking for some reassurance. :) lol

what i did was watch the videos on demand for the pharmacology. which i think helped bc there are obviously meds and side effects and antidotes and stuff like that , that we will have to know in practice and for tests. thats the only one i watched.. (its like parenteral and medications..something like that.its like 3hrs long lol)so i would watch that, and take notes in the book, reading along with her. kinda active learning. other than that i didnt read the course book, i did bookmark the areas i needed to review like ob , labs junk like that.

the ******* study guide is seriously a godsend!..the mnemonics are soooooo helpful, there is also an nclex-rn cram sheet floating around on the internet. thats good for info in a nutshell. *******

i used saunders all through out my last year of school.(wish i knew about it sooner), and i would score in like the 60-70's consistently however thier material is easier than kaplan. i did use it to practice alternate formate questions which was helpful.

i dont read books cover to cover. bc i have a goldfish memory. i jump to the areas where my knowlege is not the strongest. take notes, make notecards whatever is necessary. lol.

just keep doing the qtrainers.they are what u will feel like during nclex, if possible do them in a comfortable environment thats quiet. lol.
