I know there has been a lot of discussion of people who use kaplan program and the qbank for test prep. Unfortunately, my school required us to do this program. I have always felt that i scored poorly with kaplan qbank and question trainers (way more than any other books/cds i am using)....
I am less than a week away from boards and feel like i should do all of the kaplan questions trainers and practice exams but feel it really ruins my confidence and makes me doubt myself.
What are others opinions? Should i continue with kaplan or just use my other sources which include saunders, mosby, nclex 3500 and exam cram?
Thanks for all the help!

I decided to do Kaplan to review and now I am doubting my decision. I all doing all of the question trainer tests to make sure I have the money back guarantee if I dont pass NCLEX. But I have only been scoring around 60 on the tests, and they suggest you be at 65 before taking NCLEX. so that worries me!

Well, I will tell you how I decided to tackle this very same problem. You may or may not agree, of course...
Whether or not I am doing fabulous on the other questions (Saunders, Exam Cram, NCLEX 4000), it is the NCLEX questions that I have to worry about. My pride is not the issue here, even though it really hurts to do so poorly on the Kaplan trainers. Almost everyone who takes the test and passes and took the Kaplan previously says that the Kaplan class prepared them well (overprepared in most cases), because the other trainer questions are way too easy to compare to the exam.
Even if my scores aren't great, I am going to keep going with Kaplan. Every question I take (and read the rationale to) gets me that much closer to understanding the NCLEX, and can only help me. And every few days, when I need an ego boost (because it's true, I do after Kaplan sometimes), I take 75 questions from another company. It boosts me up again, and surprises me how far I've come already.
I am going to complete the entire course, for two reasons: to make sure I qualify for the refund if I need to, and because if I do, I probably won't need to!
Good luck, you can do this!

Come on, I hardly scored over sixty when I was taking Kaplan and pass with 75questions...Kaplan is great. Continue to do the questions and read the rationales even when the answer is correct.

Just using Kaplan worked for me. For me, too many resources just confused me! Do as many questions as you can and examine the rationales. Many of the questions on NCLEX followed the Kaplan Tree. Ask yourself why you answered a question right or wrong. Try not to overthink it. Good luck! :)
to reply to some of the posts... kaplan for me is easy and i expect it to be but if you read rationales of kaplan compared to other books rationales, they kinda suck!
i do understand the decision tree and how to answer questions and kaplan has helped me with that so i am glad in that way that i took it, however if i had the to do something else i would.
and also you should look into how to get the money back gaurantee if you fail cuz its not just doing question trainers. You have to do ALL qbank questions, ALL question trainers, ALL alternate format, and i believe even listen to all the audio reviews. You literally have to do everything on kaplan, not just the question trainers.
I guess i will just be hopeful and do my best on the test. I however do not take kaplan seriously as determining my readiness because if i did pay attention to the percentages I would never be ready according to them.

I too took Kaplan and was scoring in the low to mid 60s on all question trainers. I took the NCLEX today and got 75 questions, 18 of them were select all that applys. I didnt use the tree at all but I do feel that Kaplan helped. Only because you have access to many questions and the content part of the book is short and concise. I advise to read every rationale to every question that you do because thats how I studied mainly. I did the PV trick and so far so good. Good luck to everyone : )

I would use a variety of questions and not put all the eggs on the Kaplan's basket. Stay away from Exam Cram CD, they are filled with gross errors, typos, you name it.
oops i meant isnt easy for me and i dont expect it to be... sorry :)
