Kaplan Q Trainer vs. NCSBN vs. Exam Cram vs. Saunders Q&A

Please help!! I need to decide on which to do practice questions. y exam will be 3 weeks from now. which among the four will be the most beneficial in preparation for nclex.. Thank u!

I've heard that Exam Cram is very good for practice questions and so does Kaplan. Goodluck on your exam. :)

I took the Kaplan course and I think that it was great. I loved all the Qbank questions and thought it helped me a ton. I also used Lacharity which I am glad that I found from this site. So helpful. Best of Luck

I am taking the NCSBN site. The material is in a outline format. It doesnt help you learn, however the questions are great. From what i hear they are as close to the NCLEX as possible. With that being said, I am consistently scoring in the 55%-60% range. However, there is no doubt in my mind that I know the material. They want you to score 75%.

From people i have talked to that teach review classes, they say that the most important questions you answer will be the first 15. That is what will take you above the passing or below the failing line. After that the computer will give you questions designed to get 1 right and 1 wrong based on where you are after 15 questions. So the best i can say is to really focus on your first 15 practice questions so you can get out of the gate strong. I just hate the fact that i cant get over the 70% mark with NCSBN, however i am starting very strong which i believe is the key.

Confidence is key, Think in your mind that you ar a RN and you will pass. Leave no doubt or uncertainty in your mind. I take the NCLEX in less than 3 weeks and not once have I said that i will fail. Be confident!!!!!!!!!!!

@zips71:

wish i have that attitude but i am trying to build that now... :D

you will, the way i figure it is that if i score a 40% on a practice quiz, thats all it is is practice and just learn from it as you will probably see the questions again in a different rationale.

I am also doing the NCSBN right now. I did buy the Kaplin book and read through it and got testing stratigies out of it. I didn't do any of the practice test in it yet. I personally feel that the NCSBN is a good review. I also did the hurst online review. @zips71, I too have been getting 50-70 on my end of section reviews. I pass the interactive exercises. I had a friend who did this review after failing 2 times and she finally passed. Thanks for the tip about focusing on the first 15. I will def. pay more attention to that.

So i finally enrolled in NCSBN.. and my diagnostic pretest is really bad!!! its a humiliating and discouraging 50% score... how well did u do with this?

I did the same. I think I was 50-55% as well. But now I'm getting higher thoughout the lessons. I wouldn't let it discourage you at all. Based on how the nclex works, if you miss one, make sure you get the next 1 right. It may take you to 265 questions but as long as you roller coaster and just don't miss anymore than 3 in a row, you should be successful. Think positive and you will pass. Take a look at each question and learn from. Start off strong

Hey zips71 are there repeatable questions on the NCSBN or is it just plethora of questions just to practice?

Yes, there are repeat questions. Once you take a test you can retake the test, the questions just come back up in a different order. That has helped me learn a lot. I will wait at least a few days and a few more tests before I retake a test
