  1. I am a mom as well and will be starting my new nursing job next week. He is almost two though and it will be a transition for us all since he will be attending daycare and I will be working 4 days a week. My advice...well it sounds as though you really want job A since it has the ICU and then you will be golden to go move around if you have that experience and there is an opportunity too. There may be a rotating schedule so it could be tricky but I am sure that if you found the right person to take care of your daughter you could make it work. With job B you would still need some help since it is overnights right and you would need to sleep to function. Go for job A! Which did you feel like was the one place you were supposed to be??? Think of that too in your decision and where you want to be five years from now.
  2. I would like to do something in Med/surg in the hospital to get some really good experience and then I would love to work in Pedi or NICU down the road. The job market here in MA is tough and right now I feel like my either hope of a job of some sort will be at this medical office or doing a psych tech/RN position. Those are the two places that have called me back for interviews. I have applied at tons of LTC facilities and no response. Thanks for your response though.
  3. I am a new RN grad and I am wondering will I get good experience working in a medical office so that I can eventually apply at hospitals that require atleast 1 year experience? I have an interview coming up at a medical office in adult medicine and I know that I would basically be taking vitals, phone triage, and still need more info but if anyone can give some advice or if I should just keep trying to get my foot in the door at a hospital. Thank you.
  4. I graduated in Dec.2010, took NCLEX March 2011, have been apllying every day for a job!! I live in Massachusetts and it is tough to find something right now. Most places want 1yr experience...give us a chance I say! I still apply even if it says this and am praying that something will come my way. There are not many new grad programs right now either so no luck in that.
  5. I am a new grad and have applied at St. E's. Do you know how long it typically takes to hear back if you do fit the criteria for an interview? I am getting discouraged with trying to find a job being a new grad and no experience except for clinical. Any advice would be great. Thanks
  6. Do you know if they will take someone with an Associates in Nursing but a Bachelor of Science in another field? How long did it take to get an interview or call back once you applied? I am a new grad and was interested in the internship but was unsure if I should apply since I only have an associates degre.
  7. Sorry to hear that you went right to CC page. Keep your head up and just try again when you feel you are ready to re-test. You can do it! wish you all the best.
  8. The PVT is 100% accurate. I took the Nclex-RN exam yesterday morning at 8m, did the PVT trick and got the "good pop up" and today my name is on the Board of Registration in my state!!! I am an RN! I can't believe it..I am in shock still. I had 75 questions and computer shut off. Good luck to all you and just remember if you don't pass on the first try you can re-test and you keep trying! You can do it, you made it through nursing school and you will be succeed with the Nclex too.
  9. Did you make sure that when you did the PVT that it says delivery sucessful with your exam? You need to make sure that it was delivered successfully first before doing the trick. I wish you the best.
  10. I am just confused and maybe a little overwhelmed still from the exam this morning. If you do the PVT and get the good pop up you pass, but does it matter what state you live in? I got the good pop up and took the test at 8am in MA. Just curious and may sound silly but I am so anxious
  11. I think that I had done over 2000-3000 questions because I know that the Qbank from Kaplan had 1300 and I did a lot more with the trainers and other books. Just guessing though.
  12. I had a mix of SATA (10)maybe, some infection control, prioritization/delegation, some things I never heard of. It was a mix of all various questions. I can't really remember since I felt like I was in a zone while taking it!
  13. You can do it! I was having palpitations all yesterday and today until I did the PVT trick...I had to know!LOL. wow..lots of questions...I probably only did about 100/day.
  14. I took the kaplan course and did all qbank questions and all question trainers. I also watched some of the online lectures. I used Lacharity and I had stuff all over the house on the walls that I could look at. I graduated mid Dec. and then studied some every day. I also studied some yesterday and even some this morning right before leaving my car to head into the exam. I think everyone is different in the way they study and it made me feel more secure having studied yesterday some. When are you taking the exam? Good luck and think positive thoughts! You can do it.
  15. I took the Kaplan course and I think that it was great. I loved all the Qbank questions and thought it helped me a ton. I also used Lacharity which I am glad that I found from this site. So helpful. Best of Luck
