Hello all!
I wanted to create a thread for those of us that are STARTING a Kaiser SoCal residency in July. I'd love to be able to connect with anyone in the area that is starting around the same time, and also to exchange information we have received!

Hi! What hospital site will you be starting at? I will be at Kaiser Zion in San Diego. I'm still waiting to complete the pre-employment physical exam and I-9 verification appointment. The start date is approaching and I'm getting a little nervous since this hasn't been done yet. Is anyone else in the same boat?

Irvine! Is your start date the 8th too? If so, that's kind of crazy that they haven't had you complete the onboarding yet!! Have you tried emailing anyone? Although I just had my I9 this week...
That's exciting! And yes I heard back from them today, I'll be getting it done next week!

Hello! I will be starting July 8th at the Kaiser San Marcos Medical Center. Employee health cleared me this week.

I'm glad it worked out! Did they give you your training schedule yet?

So exciting! Do you know what unit you'll be on? I heard they tell us after orientation...
My offer letter says med/surg. Did you get a schedule for new employee orientation?
I haven't gotten my schedule yet. Have you received any information about orientation?
I'm also starting on July 8th and will be in a med-surg telemetry unit

I did! It's almost all of July but there are a few dates that don't have anything stated that are apparently going to be unit-specific training days...

Yes! But I think it'll be different for you because I don't think they'll have you come all the way to Irvine...? I'm just upset that it's business casual because my talent acquisition liaison told me it would be casual 😭😭
I'm an internal employee. My situation is kind of unique. I started at at San Marcos MOB 7 years ago and then while in nursing school I transferred to Anaheim Medical Center. So even though I have already completed orientation with SD before they are making me do it again since I'm coming from OC. In the past they had all SD employees complete new employee orientation at Zion. All I was told schedule-wise is Mon-Fri (8am-5pm) for first 11 weeks. and then today I was told I would get an email next week for new employee orientation information.

Wow, having to do it all over again sounds like a drag... They only gave me a schedule for the month of July (and not even all of it) but for the most part, it's every day. Some days are 8-430, some are 1-5, some are 8-10... so it's not exactly what they said. It sucks though because some of the training centers are an hour away from me and we'll only be there for a couple of hours at most!!
oh wow! that is interesting. do you know anyone that has gone through the program or have any idea what its like? I don't really know what to expect. like are we going to be in a classroom, doing simulations, projects etc
