Kaiser NorCal New Grad Residency 2023 (Spring Cohort 5)

Updated:   Published

Hello everyone! I didn't see this topic on the forum, so I'll create this for anyone else who is planning to apply to Kaiser's New Residency Program. Good luck!!

my friend said she got an interview invite for the napa/solano area 3 days ago.

yeah mine also said 2/13 as well. So I found it strange that it changed to todays date. Thanks!

Mine just this evening updated to todays date as well, still with the "completed status". It makes you wonder ?

On the rubric for the presentation, it says to only choose one question from each section to fully answer, but I'm noticing that they all sort of overlap and when you answer one you end up answering the others in a way.

For example, Section 1 asks about past experiences and how it prepared you to be a nurse, but another question in that section asks about what caused you to want to be a nurse.

I feel like these sort of go hand in hand, since our past experiences could have made us want to pursue nursing but also prepared us, so would it be okay to touch on both?

Edit: It'll be on teams and they'll send the link 2 hours before your interview time

do we need to download any software for the interview?

You may be able to use teams on a browser but I highly recommend just downloading it to prevent issues when u are trying to share your presentation.

For the presentation, I understand we are to choose one prompt per section but for the grading itself, are we supposed to accomplish everything that's considered "Excellent" for that section? Not sure if I'm making any sense but for example, in section 2 one of the prompts is "Share any life experiences that contribute to your foundation as an RN. What do they say about you?" how am I supposed to "demonstrate customer service, time prioritization, and critical thinking" in a personal experience? I feel like that would be more toward a work or volunteer experience such as in the first prompt in section 2...sorry if this is confusing

@krnselly Yes! My thoughts exactly...I too feel stumped. I was thinking how does customer service, time prioritization, etc; factor into my decision to become a nurse...then I started wondering "are they telling us subliminally which prompt they want us to choose based off of the ranking description!?” LOL

I think at the end of the day if I answer the prompt thoroughly then I did what they asked, IDK

They couldn't have made it anymore confusing forreal LOL :') I just really can't tell if the grading corresponds to each prompt or the entire section. But also, each prompt kinda overlaps too
