Kaiser is the best to work at?

U.S.A. California

Ive always heard that Kaiser pays the most... is this true?

Where would you work as an RN if you could work anywhere you choose?

Never place all facilities from one company as being the same, there are some that people love and then horror stories about others.

Managers can make or break an experience anywhere.

In CA, the Kaiser hospitals are under union representation, payscale is similar among other hospitals in the area where the facility is; the pay does not stand out as being higher than the others.

It may be in other locales, but not in CA.

Kaiser has the reputation of being the highest-paying hospital in the Sacramento area--and according to their projected raises, will definitely be in a few years, when the Sacramento salaries will match the Bay Area salaries.

In my travel years. I was granted a wonderfull oppertunity to work in Kaiser Permanente South in Sacramento, CA. I should have stayed, but got homesick. Miss you Tupper, Susan and many more.;)

Actually Kaiser is known to have higher salaries than other hospitals within the area. I know this for a fact because I interviewed with most of the hospitals in my area. They do tend to have higher salaries than other hospitals in the area. How ever whether it is the best hospital to work for or not would depend on the person's perspective as well as many other factors..

I will have to disagree with Suzanne4 since Kaiser actually does offer higher salaries than surrounding hospitals in Fresno, CA.. Suzanne4 just out of curiousity, where are you getting your information from?

I am trying to get into Kaiser in San Diego right now. Does anyone know if the salaries in San Diego are higher at Kaiser or not?

I've heard (don't know for sure because I still haven't got an interview) that they don't start you out any higher here but that you get a big raise once you are off your 3 month probation period and then you get regular pay raises.

My friend who works at Kaiser in SD said that after a few years you are making more at Kaiser than at any other hospital.

On more than one occasion, a patient has come into our hosptial after receiving poor care at Kaiser. One man was found to have a C3 fracture t Kaiser after a CT scan. They gave him an Aspen collar and SENT HIM HOME!!!!

The next day, he was complaining of numbness and tingling in his extremities and called Kaiser. They told him it was NORMAL for his injury! He finally came into our hospital after a Kaiser nurse drove to his house, picked him up, and brought him to our ER.

We took him to surgery that day to stabilze the injury before he severed his cord!!!!

I'm not sure how they are as an employer, but as a healthcare provider, they continue to amaze me in a negative way!

I agree with RNnewgrad. Kaiser has been having many problems misdiagnosing patients and have had lawsuits due to this. Its been on the news and the papers. We at county tend to get the kaiser patients who got sent home even though their problem persisted. I heard they pay well, but don't know if it is true. My friend started at 32 and I'm not at kaiser and make more than that. I applied at kaiser and it taked forever for them to call you back. They also do phone interviews, which I don't like. They do have new grad programs that start in July. I agree with suzanne, it depends on the area...

san diego zion:

ADN, MED-SURG floor: 30.69

w/out benefits: 36.84

if you opt to not take the benefts that means: no paid vacation, nomedical/dental, no holiday pay and a few other things. these are start rates. we've opted to not take the benefits, more money and they only offer kaiser health coverage. I can get health coverage through my husbands job, and i can go to scripps for my dr.

hope this helps

I was simply responding to questions in regards to salary not quality of care at Kaiser not to mention Kaiser here has an awesome reputation. I hear horror stories about many hospitals but it is often the particular units that make errors and in return the whole hospital gets a bad rep. Kaiser starts out New Grads in Fresno area at $40 per hour. They have 8 hr shifts. When compared to $25 to $28 for New Grads at other hospitals this is a big difference. But at other hospitals you end up working 12 hr shifts and after 8 hrs you get overtime as well as weekend and holiday differential so it ends up being the same. You just work 12 hr shifts rather than 8 hr shifts. Ohh by the way you get almost a $5 differential for evening shift after 7 and and a $7 differential for night shift after 11. And they are also extremely picky about who they hire. Out of the New Grad Interview Process which 50 candidates attended, only 2 got hired. So sometimes some nurses dislike Kaiser because they were not hired by Kaiser and they have a negative view of the hospital..

Kaiser has great benefits, great wages, & works with a union so there is a yearly bonus/raise. They offer new grad programs as well. Oh & if you work a holiday, it's double time and a half. If you dont work that day, you still get paid 8 hrs of your base rate. NICE!
