Kaiser is the best to work at?

U.S.A. California

Ive always heard that Kaiser pays the most... is this true?

Where would you work as an RN if you could work anywhere you choose?

I am graduating in May 2009 from a R.N. program. I am curious as to how I actually find the job link to apply on Kaiser's career page for their "new grad" programs. Any tips? Thank you in advance!

Kaiser's needs are always changing. Its best to call the recruiter, find out what new grad positions are available and then apply to the one you want. In our area we never had any "new grad" postings online so I called.

BTW, now that i've been there for 6months I can honestly say that I'm really enjoying my job. great pay, great environment, respectful doctors.

Scripps Health, hands down is the best overall HC Employer in San Diego.

Hello Cinnamongirl,

Where are you from? Kaiser in CA starts about $40 an hour or more! I like the different areas you can work, and they just built a huge facility in Santa Clara, CA. Are you in nursing school now? If so, when do you finish? They do offer new grad programs in Ca. I went to an information orientation last month in Oakland, CA. They were looking to employ in the areas of pediatric ICU, M/S and L&D where I would love to go!! Please keep in touch!!

Was this for new nurses ? I got accepted at Mt. St. Marys in Los Angeles where they have 25 scholarships and then you work for them for 2 years,. It seems that it is hard anywhere for new nurses now.

I heard Kaiser pays pretty well compared to other local hospitals, but I took a job close to home. A dollar or two an hour extra doesn't make driving 1 hour each way to work worth it for me. You don't get paid for sitting in your car with traffic.

I agree with RNnewgrad. Kaiser has been having many problems misdiagnosing patients and have had lawsuits due to this. Its been on the news and the papers. We at county tend to get the kaiser patients who got sent home even though their problem persisted. I heard they pay well, but don't know if it is true. My friend started at 32 and I'm not at kaiser and make more than that. I applied at kaiser and it taked forever for them to call you back. They also do phone interviews, which I don't like. They do have new grad programs that start in July. I agree with suzanne, it depends on the area...

I agree with RNnewgrad too. I was hired on at Kaiser as a Pharmacy Tech awhile ago and after their pre-employment physical I was notified that I had Hep-C. After much time freaking out I was retested by my doctor and it was false. I don't know if they mixed up my labs with somebody else or it was a false positive but I decided not to work there after that. I also had a customer once that had spent all day there for observation because he was given the wrong IM injection. Needless to say he was very upset! Hopefully that is not the norm but enough to worry me. Personally I would recommend working for Sutter. It doesn't seem like they are too new grad friendly though??

they probably start at $32 for RN but they get high raises pretty quick.
