Definitely possible. As a travel nurse for 8 years... trust me. There are contracts out there that can offer you up to 60 hours/week if you want. All depends on you situation (i.e. family, no family, travel reimbursement, housing needed or can stay with a friend/family). Try googling short term travel contracts. This will bring up some companies you can check out. Not sure if we can name drop companies on this site???
I worked in the bay area and in Santa Barbara...two areas that have a high COLA allowance. I usually go with smaller companies, they are more flexible with the pay since they don't have such of a high overhead. PM me for more info.
Hi Spriderella,
I am working on traveling to the bay area in the next couple of months.... if you don't mind me asking which hospitals did you like best while you we're out there (my specialty is NICU so I know your experiences may vary some). If you don't feel comfortable listing here I would really appreciate if you could PM me since this traveling is totally new for me. Thanks :bowingpur

Hello,
I am a poor nursing instructor!! I planned to pick up agency during Christmas break, however, over in the Midwest, travel nursing is not picking up. I will have another break in May for 16 weeks- my plan is to go to California and work approx 60 hours a week! Is it possible to BRING HOME AFTER TAXES 30K?
How can I get the most pay? I do need housing, no benefits...
Thanks,
Brandie
