Just wanted to say hey and that I am new to nursing...

Hey all,

I am planning to become EMT certified thru this summer, then in the fall pursuing a BSN nursing degree @ Lehman College in the bronx. I am only doing EMT to get my foot in the door in the healthcare field. Plus I wanted something flexible to accomodate my school schedule. I was wondering if there is anyone out there that can provide some sort of inkling to what I am in store for. I havent decided on which aspect of nursing I will go into. I guess I am just babbling so I will end this here. Thank you for your time reading this, I hope to hear from yall soon.

Good for you and your decision to head into this field. I think you will know pretty quick rather you love it or hate it - at least that is how it was for me. There are some people that think that they want to be a nurse and then get into their clinicals and cannot do it. I think it is good that you are taking the EMT route. You may find that you love being an EMT and then a nurse. At least you are open to it and doing what is best for you. You can never go wrong when you listen to your heart...

I wish you luck and just remember, that nursing school is not as bad as everyone says. It is hard work but so worth it! I wish you all the best...:)

Cogratulations on your acceptance to lehman college for nursing. I too am looking to apply to lehman to see if I can attend for there nursing program. Are you in the nursing program as yet or are you still taking pre req courses?

Thank you sooo much... I do appreciate it. I still have to take the pre req classes till January. I am not sure if I have to wait or not to get into the program. I have to go to the school sometime soon anyway, I will find out if there is a waiting list. I am thinking of doing the EMT thing while I go to nursing school. I am sure u will get into the school. When do u wanna attend?

I am looking to attend the fall2005 semester. I too have to take some pre req courses mainly science courses . I am little confuse about some things though but hopefully whenI go up there on tuesday a counselor would be able to answer my questions and direct me in the correct way . I am also thinking about taking the nursing assistant refresher course this summer so I could work in the hsp . Deciding to bcome an emt is a wise descion I know will gain alot of experience along the way while in nursing school . Keep in touch let me know how it went at lehman
