Do not rush to resit, wait until you feel OK to resit. practise, practise questions and read the rationales, even if you got it right

Best of luck

Don;t give up on yourself! wish you all the best in your next retake......:)

The first time I tested I got near passing and above passing in the content areas for 265 questions. I emailed my NCLEX professor and went through my preparation and the results. For my second go around she told me that it sounded like I knew the content I just needed to relax and do questions. I did NCLEX 4000 the second time same as NCLEX 3500 over the course of about 3 weeks. Each week I only did 50 questions per week increasing by 10 questions from Monday thru Friday making sure I received 75% or better each day before I moved on to 10 more. I bought the Kaplan book and read the chapters which helped me out so much. The last week I did the 180 questions in the book 20-40 in the morning and 20-40 in the evening still getting 75% or above. The day before on that morning I did the 180 questions on the CD after that I relaxed and enjoyed my day. Also, as stated before read all the rationales that is the best tip anyone can give. Oh and I received 75 questions 4-5 SATA, 1 calc and back to back priority questions this time when I took the test it didn't seem as foreign as the first time.

i ave a quick questions regarding the kaplan review... i kept getting 58% on all the trainer questions.. and so i will review all the questions and retake them again,i got 75- 89%.. is this a good way to study for nclex??! (does the first try counts the most?) it's just frustrating the i get 58% at the end of the question trainer... in terms of the Qbank.. I have used all the 1800 questions and familiar with most of the questions when i practice them again.. in my heart.. i am ready but im not sure if im totally ready to take the test... im scared...:o

^I don't think it's the first try that counts the most. These review programs help you learn how to go about answering questions and at the same time, learn things that you might not have known about prior to the program. The important thing is to try to go deeper and understand the rationales instead of trying to memorize the answers to specific questions because obviously the chances of getting the exact same questions on your nclex exam would be very slim.

I'm no expert and I haven't received the official letter yet, but I firmly believe that nursing or not, that's how you make full use of your time (and money) on these review books and programs.

Thanks for your advice :nurse:.. Every time i answer questions on Qbank or Qtainer-- and every time I encounter the same question (w/c obviously I know the right answer) I first rationalize it then understand why the other 3 are wrong.. so from there I started to build more and more informations regarding that same topic..

anyway.. have u taken the test yet??.. if so, did you find it harder than kaplan questions or about the same??..

I saw the other person answered your question. I actually didn't do the Kaplan review course (Qbank or Qtrainers) because of money. I just bought the Kaplan book and read the chapters and the last week did the questions. I think the Kaplan questions prepared me for the NCLEX this time when I took it, it seemed like the questions were like easier or something. I was able to eliminate answer choices based on the steps that Kaplan explained in the book. Also if you haven't tested yet I think NCLEX 3500 or 4000 was very helpful too, I mostly did SATA from those questions. Like the other person said do the rationales no matter what. Good luck and Happy Holidays

Thank you! that's what i've been hearing from other people whoo took Kaplan and passed the NCLEX.. yup goodluck to me! im taking it on the 18th :-)

DO NOT RETAKE THE KAPLAN QUESTIONS! read and understand the rationale and move on. At 58% you are doing OK. Your score will go up (might be just a little) as you do the questions and read all the rationales.

thanks vincejojo! ill keep that in mind... so far i've been doing good in answering more and more questions :-)
