Just took TEAS V! What was YOUR scoreh

So I just took TEAS V, and let me just say it is HARD! Well at least some of it is. I took the science portion and wanted to die. Right there on the computer. The reading was tougher than I thought, for sure. I got the ATI Study Manual, McGraw Hill Entrance Exam [Nursing], and Peterson study guide for allied health. The ATI was helpful in the english, math, and reading. The science, as EVERYONE here on AllNurses say, is completely RANDOM! There were things not in any of the books that I read, things that are WAY more in depth than any of the books I read. But if I had to choose, I thin kthe McGraw Hill was the most helpful for science.

I thought the science was SO DIFFICULT. I couldn't even do process of elimination. I just sort of "clicked" whichever appealed to my eyes the most. If I liked the word, I clicked it. Horrible test taking strategy, for sure. Turns out, I got a 92 on the science. Couldn't believe my luck. The reading, I got a 63. =/

My mean individual score was an 80. I really don't know what to think. The university I applied to [saint Xavier, Chicago, Il] needs a 58.7 for your app to be considered, but I'm still extremely nervous and axious. You are only allowed ONCE to take the TEAS. Ever. So even in 4 years, if i reapply, they will only take my first ATI score, unless they change their requirements.

For those of who you are going to take TEAS V, I sugest getting the McGraw Hill. Maybe even the online tests from ATI. I haven't purchased the online assesments, but the students I took the exam with have, and they said it helped somewhat. I wish I would have purchased it.

For those of you who have taken TEAS V, what was your score and did you get accepted??

For those that used the McGraw Hill study guide. How accurate were the practice tests at predicting your actual TEAS score? I really need to do well on this test but can not afford the ATI guide (unless anyone would like to donate their used book then PM me). I scored 73 on the diagnostic test then studied for two weeks reading each word and doing every problem in the study guide. I took the first practice test today and only got a 84. I am hoping to get at least a 90 on the actual test since the schools I'm applying to are very competitive.

So is the score you got on the McGraw Hill practice tests at the end of the book higher or lower than your actual score?

If you did the online ATI practice exam how much more accurate was that at predicting your actual TEAS score?

I used the McGraw-Hill study guide and found it helpful in preparing for the test format itself, not the actual information. The manual ($80 I think) came with two practice tests and two free online tests. Each time I took a practice test my score improved. I took advantage of the fact that I could also take the actual TEAS V test twice and, again, improved my score. Over all score of 90.7% (100% on two parts).

Reading - read a passage and answer questions on main idea of entire article, certain paragraphs, etc......very challenging as more than one answer looked correct to me....2nd TEAS V official test had some of the exact same questions as the 2nd online practice test

Math - understand basic algebra, no calculator allowed, nothing tricky

Science - understand Mitosis v. Meiosos, ionic/covalent bonds, basic life systems, a few rock questions (??), photosynthesis, cellular respiration, understand how to read a periodic table and what each of the numbers mean (i.e. know how to read oxidation numbers), review blood flow and heart chambers

Grammar, Punctuation, Spelling - put down that iPhone and relearn how to properly punctuate a sentence, not difficult but you do have to think for a bit

I just took it today! I won't get my score for 48 hours I thought I needed more time on the math, I am a little concerned about it...

I'm still waiting on my score. I took the test yesterday at a PSI testing center. Not sure why an official testing center would be lacking the technology of instant scoring? I'll come back and post when I get it. Hopefully tomorrow since I need the score to submit my application, and the sooner I get my application in, the better my odds are of getting accepted.

I'm taking it tomorrow and honestly, I'm just winging it. I hope it's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. I guess I'll find out tomorrow!

Does anyone know what the average TEAS score is?

I know it varies from school to school, but what is the average standard TEAS score to enter nursing school?

Sort of how most nursing programs want students with a 2.75 or 3.0 gpa.

@CluelessNursingGuy, That's the point I am at right now. Whatever my score is, I'll take it. A test of essential learning skills shouldn't be so hard, you would think we were taking the NCLEX!

Took it yesterday. Got a 94% overall...92.9 in Reading, 100 in Math, 89.6 in Science, and 96.7 in English. Super proud of myself! Used the ATI testing manual and online tests. Studied for about 4-5 weeks. Good luck everyone! :-D

I took it last July and got 98% overall. 100% in Math, 100% in English and Language Usage, 98% in Science and 97% in Reading. It's all about practice. Take all the sample exams you can, and try to give yourself at least a few months to study. I only had 2 weeks to study because I waited so long to sign up for an exam date and all the choice dates were sold out. Don't let that happen to you! Set up a schedule to study and try to get 2-4 hours in per day, and you should do fine. Go in confident and get a good night's sleep the night before the exam. So important!
