The ATI study manual was great! It comes with two practice tests in the book and two online practice tests. Those online practice tests were the best! They were more helpful to me than the paper tests. It gave me a clearer picture of where my weak areas were and how I was able to operate under the stress of a timer. Totally worth the investment. I agree with the previous poster. If you are allowed, take it again! Your test scores should improve. It's a hassle but with the amount of time and money you already have invested in yourself you should really do it. Most people, including myself, say their scores improved on the second try. You are not as anxious and it gives you a better idea of where your weak areas are. Good luck!

DarkLotus, I tried studying from web sites and found there were practically none. There were a few YouTube math and science videos I reviewed but they were specific to my weak subject areas. I know the study manuals are pricey but they are worth the investment. This is such a critical test so why try to skimp on studying? The ATI manual is worth every penny. It comes with two practice tests and two online practice tests. I found that those 4 practice tests were what helped me the most, even more so than studying the material in the book. Everything seems so expensive at this point but it is worth the investment in the long run. Please reconsider. Good luck!

To make things clear, none of the examples I used in my explanation were on my exam or even in my study materials. They are examples I made up from some of my own study cards that I used to prepare for the exam. Sorry if it sounded like I was quoting exam questions. I was not. I will be more careful in future posts.

Math is basic algebra - solve for x, add/multiply fractions, etc. Make sure you double check everything. It's amazing what stupid mistakes we make rushing through simple math. There wasn't much on verb, noun, adverb identification. Know how to properly use a comma and quotation marks. Know the difference between commonly misused words like you're/your, allude/elude, accept/except, their/there/they're, etc. Know basic sentence structure. The math and grammar sections seemed to be on a Jr. High level. The reading and science portions seemed to be on more of a High School level. Good luck!

RhonnieDita, Nothing like that but there may be a question or two about valence electrons and ionic/covalent bonds. They do not give you a periodic table and it really would have been helpful on a question or two. Make sure you know generic info about the most common elements (H, He, C, N, O). Make sure you understand oxidation numbers and formulas for determining chemical weight. I took the TEAS test twice and had completely different Chemistry subject areas on each test....weird. Yes and no. I think the first test was more of a 'get the feeling for the format' experience. While the practice exams are supposed to accomplish that, there's no good substitute for taking the real test. After taking the exam the first time I realized that: 1) I was in no danger of running out of time so chill out a little 2) my weak areas are still my weak areas, study those harder for the 2nd try 3) it wasn't as bad as I thought, I was much calmer the 2nd try All of my scores improved by at least 10 or more points the 2nd try. I even scored 100% on the Math and Grammar sections (shocker). I think it was because I wasn't so stressed out, not because I studied what was on that 2nd page. Good luck!

I used the McGraw-Hill study guide and found it helpful in preparing for the test format itself, not the actual information. The manual ($80 I think) came with two practice tests and two free online tests. Each time I took a practice test my score improved. I took advantage of the fact that I could also take the actual TEAS V test twice and, again, improved my score. Over all score of 90.7% (100% on two parts). Reading - read a passage and answer questions on main idea of entire article, certain paragraphs, etc......very challenging as more than one answer looked correct to me....2nd TEAS V official test had some of the exact same questions as the 2nd online practice test Math - understand basic algebra, no calculator allowed, nothing tricky Science - understand Mitosis v. Meiosos, ionic/covalent bonds, basic life systems, a few rock questions (??), photosynthesis, cellular respiration, understand how to read a periodic table and what each of the numbers mean (i.e. know how to read oxidation numbers), review blood flow and heart chambers Grammar, Punctuation, Spelling - put down that iPhone and relearn how to properly punctuate a sentence, not difficult but you do have to think for a bit Good luck!

Taking those classes is definitely a plus. You only get two attempts at the TEAS V so don't waste one on guesses. You'll regret it. The science section was the most challenging and it's where I received my lowest score, despite the fact that I have taken 16 hours of science classes over the past 12 months! Good luck!

I have to say pretty much what Jennys77 did.... Buy the ATI test prep manual and study. It comes with two practice tests in the book and two free online practice tests. I took the TEAS V twice and was able to improve my score. The reading section was rather tricky. In many cases, several answers are correct, you need to decide which is the MOST correct. If you haven't completed your science prereqs then you may have trouble with that section as some of the questions are advanced. Math was not bad. Make sure you understand basic Algebra. GPS wasn't bad, either. Just make sure you understand how to properly punctuate a sentence. Good luck!

I took the TEAS V twice, five days apart. The second time the questions were totally different than the first. However, I noticed that the second test had many of the same reading questions as the online practice tests. The second time around the math section was much harder, or so I thought. All of my scores substantially improved the second time around, though. Good luck!
