Just took the NCLEX

Published

Just took the NCLEX this afternoon.. I got 75 questions, did the PVT and got the good pop up!! I had a lot of SATA, medication & mostly prioritization. Although I know that the PVT is accurate, I think I'm going to pay the 8$ for quick results. At the end of my exam, I felt confident because I knew I got a lot of passing level questions.

TIPS on how I studied: Just a little background on how I studied. This section helped me tremendously on this site so I figured I'd share my own.

1. I used only a few resources, but relied heavily on Kaplan. I had the Kaplan live class for a week, and then I studied for a month and did 100 qbank questions every day and reviewed the rationale. I didn't really review content, just did questions. If I really didn't understand something, I would look it up and on the days when I'm bored and don't want to do any questions, I would skim the Kaplan book. After I finished Qbank, my average was a 65. From Qtrainers 1-7, my grades were 53, 60, 59, 65, 69, 70, and 77 respectively. I also used the study guide from AllNurses which was extremely helpful. My tip is just to study from Kaplan, the questions were really similar. Also do the NCLEX sample questions 1-3 from Kaplan, it consists of priority questions and that was what the focus on NCLEX was, well it was on mine anyway.

2. I did about 4-5 chapters of the Lacharity Prioritization book. It's a great book and really focuses on critical thinking. Must have in my opinion if you want to pass the NCLEX. I got lazy after doing a few chapters, but I benefited from the few ch that I managed to do. If anything, MUST do the infection control ch.

3. I used the Exam Cram Practice Questions book and did about 500 questions on the days when I finished Qbank. The questions in this book is much easier than Kaplan, it's not really critical thinking questions rather, they are content questions. It helped to reinforce some content while actually doing Questions and reviewing rationale. Pretty Helpful.

4. I also reviewed the videos on Kaplan. They are good to reinforce content, but they are SUPER long so I'd say just review the material that you need a refresher on.

That's all the materials I've used to study. Another tip is that passing level questions are the SATA and the questions/answers in quotation marks. If you see a lot of those, it's usually a good sign. I hope this helped, and Good luck to everyone that is studying! Can't wait for my official results!! :loveya:

BANJ - It's similar the way it's worded and the format of the Kaplan in general. I was a bit nervous in the beginning but then calmed down because it was just as if I was answering Kaplan questions on the daily lol

MSHAH647 - The NCLEX sample tests are under the tab NCLEX-RN Prep, Qbank Sample Q, then NCLEX sample Q.

Thanks to everyone else!! :)
