Just took the NCLEX

you can either take from 75 up to 265 questions. So you didn't get to the last one (which is a good thing). Everyone comes out of that test saying that they didn't make it no matter what their cutoff is. So don't sweat it too much. Hopefully in a couple of days you will find out what your score was and wether you passed and we will all cheer for you!

not really related to your question but where do you live and how long did you have to wait after you put in your application? and is it for RN of LPN? I am waiting to take my nclex-pn and it is killing me waiting for the authorization to test

I live in Jacksonville florida. I gaduated on Nov. 11 and didnt get my authrization to test until right before Christmas.

How do you know if you got the last one right? Is it obvious?

yes and I looked it up.. My instructor had told us to remember the last question. Usually if you get it right your doing pretty good

I also took the NCLEX on Wednesday the 4th. I am on pins and needles here. I had 75 questions and most of them were on which patient would you see first and delegation and who I would discharge first. IT did cover all areas of medicine but I am concerned that I didn't pass. I know I either failed miserably or passed. I am so nervous, does anybody else pass or fail with 75 questions and if so... how hard were the questions? I keep hearing that if you get them wrong they get easier. If you get them all wrong, what are they like Nursing 1 questions like what are normal vital signs are what do they consider to be a minimum standard? This is just horrible!

I just took the nclex this mornng. After others in my class said it cut off at 85 mine cut off at 202. I have heard that if you get the last question right then you more than likely passed but i just want some clarification. Does anyone knoe that if you get this many is a bad sign and if you get the last one right is it a good sign? Please help....:

For the PN exam you will get anywhere between 85 and 205 questions. For the RN exam, you will get anywhere between 75 and 265 questions. The number of questions doesn't mean anything and neither does whether or not you got the last question right or wrong.

Hi everyone! I am brand new to this forum and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Carol and I am a nursing student from CA who just took the NCLEX. I am really paranoid that I did not pass. I had 75 questions that I thought were difficult. I noticed that I got multiple questions regarding Infection Control and prioritizing which patient you would see first. In everyone's experience, do you think this indicates anything? I think there's a strong chance I failed miserably if they repeatedly asked me about a topic. Does anyone know how long I have to wait before I retake the test? Please tell me I'm not a complete failure!!! :scrying:

I start working next Monday as a new grad with my IP. I'm extremely sad and embarrassed about the test. Does anyone have any experience (either yourself or someone you know) regarding a failed NCLEX? I would really appreciate any advice or any words of wisdom anyone can give.

I looked it up on the California board of nursing website and it says you can re-examine once every 91 days. I think you did just fine this time though. NCLEX is notorious for picking a subject and sticking with it. My friend had almost all OB/Peds questions and I had like 2 and passed. My test covered all type of different areas of medicine, but I know a girl who got almost exclusively GI. Answering delegation and priority questions is a good sign because they are hard. I just passed on the 6th! I would think living in California would be scary enough. Just last night, my husband and I were watching what you could buy for $500,000 and it was like a 787 sq ft apartment in San Diego. Oh my lord, in KY where I'm from that would buy a mansion. Good luck but I'm sure you did fine. You'll have to let us know when you pass!

The NCLEX exams do not give you questions on a particular topic based on if you got other questions on that topic right or wrong. In other words, you wouldn't keep getting asked about Infection Control because you had gotten questions on infection control wrong. The exam has to cover specific content areas for each and every candidate. Each and every exam has the same percentage range of questions on pharmacological therapies, physiological adaptation, etc. Some candidates PERCEIVE that their exams were ALL OB or ALL Psych, or ALL of something else. However, in reality, they are NOT. The computer will give each and every candidate the same percentage range of questions as called for in the test plan. Some questions may seem to you like they are testing one thing, when they are actually testing another. Believe me, there are many, many processes, procedures, and statistical analyses that are done to make sure no one gets a test that is "ALL OB" or "ALL Herbal Meds", etc. Another reason a test may seem to be mostly about one topic are the pretest items. Pretest items may be similar, but they don't count toward your pass/fail decision.

Bottom line - getting infection control questions does not mean you did poorly.
