Hi everyone!

I just got home from taking my exam and I have the worse headache of my life!! :banghead::eek::banghead: I was a nervous wreck when i was there and the computer shut off at 75!!! was freaking out cause i had no idea what the answer to the last questions was and i still can't recall what the question was. Anyway, I got like 15 SATA, about 8 prioritizing, TONs of meds, TONS of infection control, and just about everything inbetween, newborn, psych, etc. I'm still keeping my fingers cross. GOOD LUCK to everyone !!!

sounds to me like you passed!

oh, i also had those SATA in a row. last time i counted it was 12. towards the end, if one of the options was "jump up in your chair and scream" i would have selected it! :scrying:

ahaha!! i would pick it too!! thinking back i actually had several questions which i guess would be called non passing questions like signs and symptoms of disease =/ im freaking myself out :crying2:

Really no such thing as non-passing questions. Items are only assigned a level of difficulty after being pretested as unscored questions with a group of candidates. We don't know the results of said pretesting (or even whether the items were scored or unscored), so all of this is really useless guesswork at this point.

Take a break for yourself. Get out of the house and do something fun before you drive yourself nuts. Most people do pass and you haven't said anything so far that would make me think otherwise.

omg...im in the same boat!!!!! I took it yesterday and got basic nursing questions...i wonder if we can still pass??? my kaplan instructor scared me and said that easy questions are nonpassing but I have hope for you and I. good luck!!!

There is no such thing as non-passing questions; so for your instructor to state that was just wrong.

They determine passing at the level where you are getting the majority of your correct answers at, nothing more than that.

Best of luck as you wait for your results. Please keep up posted.

Orchid, I took the exam this morning also and it sounds like we had the exact same test and my computer also shut off after 75 questions. My breakdown was just about the same and there were only about 5 I felt good about. I had the most RANDOM questions and I felt like the SATA were never going to end. I do NOT feel good about the exam at all.

Suzanne,

Okay, then...As of now I am terribly confused. Throughout my test, which were a75 questions, I got questions on typical assessments and s/s of diseases...to me they were easy...While I took Kaplan, our instructor told us that if we got easy questions they are not-passing, so we should be worried...which am...I made up my mind that I failed...

So, how exactly is it determined if one passes or not?

Thanks for your time...

ps. I am really really disappointed in Kaplan...:(

All that test, will get 50% correct and 50% incorrect on average on their exam. Questions are given to you based on how you answered the previous question, and not from anything else. If one has tested in the past, the computer does not know anything about that at all.

Priority type questions are considered the higher level, math calculations, at least basic ones are considered at a lower level. More involved questions about meds are at a higher level.

There is no such thing as a non-pass question; it is just that some are more difficult than others in their ranking and that is what you want to see on your exam.

SATA questions that you keep hearing about are only a format style and they do not determine the level of the question at all.

There are several different areas or topics that they are testing on; you need to be at least at passing on all of them to pass the exam. There is never a numerical score that you get or will even be issued. Just does not exist.

You just need to wait until you get your results to know for sure how you did. But I can tell you that Kaplan guarantees that you will pass, so if you do not; please make sure that you get the refund coming to you.

Again, best of luck and please keep me posted on how you do on the exam.

Thanks, I will be try to be hopeful and think that maybe they were easy to me, but "higher level"...:) and if things do go wrong, I WILL get my money back from Kaplan and do your plan...for I thought they helped in no way...they just misinformed me and made me a nervous wreck!!!

Just wanted to let you all know that I passed and am now an offical RN!Thanks to everyone on this site for being so supportive and nurturing.
