Just ordered NCSBN course review

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Having the option to choose from a variety of review courses I finally decided to choose NCSBN course review.

The two main reason for choosing the latter one was the prize (although I would love to purchase the the Kaplan Qbanks I cannot afford around 500 dollars since I arleady purchased at least three NCLEX review books (Saunders fourth edition and Saunders Q&A in both the regular format and flash cards!) I also bought very expensive Judy Miller Cds (850 dollars ) which is great for the content and review. So I am literally broken in every sense. However I wanted to have an access to the newest questions so I thought that the site which makes the NCLEX would be a right place for it (my second reason) I came across on allnurses some positive comments about NCSBN.

I literally have so much of NCLEX material that I could open my own NCLEX review class. Haha, just a little of humor ... but seriously those of you who took the NCSBN review did you feel it helped you in some way to get through NCLEX? Anyway, I will update and let you know how is the review, and in mean time please share your thoughts if you are not to busy studing for NCLEX, good luck to us all!!!

I was looking at what most of you wrote here and I felt I should offer this tip. I would not go to crazy with regards to the infection control from the CDC cause its just way to much and confusing. I found very useful information about infection control as well as Mnemonics that are super neat in helping one memorize what goes with what. PLEASE VISIT THE ABOVE THREAD WHEN YOU LOG IN CALLED RANDOM FACT THROWING.... In addition that infection control you guys will also see so many wonderful tips and topics that you may completely forget to cover yet will realize it amazing stuff which could show up..

I for one plan on using saunders 4th edition cd, the prioritization, delegation and assignment book by Linda A. Lacharity, THE NCSBN AND the Random Fact throwing Thread as my study tools.

I was motivated by your thread here with regards to the NCSBN cause I was little concerned if it be worthwhile and from the feedback stated here I see it very well may be a good investment.

I hope the info I put has helped. With regards to the infection control I do not recall which pages its on in the Random Fact Throwing but go through it and print it out. Perhaps copy and paste onto word.

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE

Thanks for the tips,I love the thread Random Fact throwing and indeed it helped me to aswer some of the NCLEX practice tests. As far as the NCSBN review you cant go wrong with it seriously, for that price it has many awsome resources but you have to study consistently because of the amount of review material is really huge not to mention the number of tests. If I may ask what is your NCLEX exam date?

Beachbutterfly,

Thanks for the feedback. I paid my fee with pearsonvue and already have my ATT however I have not scheduled my exam date. I am planning either mid or end of August. I need to prepare hard so that I can have a good shot at passing. Its a lot of content and I feel having an overall grasp in every area is best this way I wont feel short changed and hit myself in the head for falling short in a particular area of review.

I wish you best of luck. I know that it can be done. With a combination of sacrifice and Gods will it will happen.

All the Best,

Wow awsome,do you have a job yet? What type of questions did you get on the NCLEX (what systems?) Also what do you think helped you to pass the NCLEX,did you do all the questions from NCBSN review and Saunders, did you review all the content, thanks.

I did all of the NCSBN questions, and only did Saunders during school to review for tests. I didn't study any content besides reviewing that CDC appendix. It is 40-some pages, but I felt it was kind of easy to pick out the diseases that I felt I needed to know.

And nope, no job yet, though not for a lack of trying :(

Cubano30, Hey what is the website or link that you were talking about where you said we could get mnemonics for the infectious diseases and random fact throwing? Thanks!

Hi NutmegPSU,

Its the first thread (IN GREEN) when you log into allnurses.com: ANYONE UP FOR RANDOM FACT THROWING.

Ok thanks so much I will look for it. Because I always get the transmission of infectious diseases confused!

Hello guys,

Somebody told me about the NCSBN and they said it is really good. I am going to try that. In fact, I am going to order it maybe later. I already scheduled myself to take the test this July 11. Do you think I still have time to go over with the NCSBN or is still realistic? what is your opininion? I tried kaplan and they are hard I am just getting 55 %. In saunders I got 66%. So I really don't know. I am just so anxious and scared to fail. I need some motivation. Okay! take care..... keep me posted. thanks...

Yea Kaplan is really hard! I've been doing Kaplan and NCSBN. SOme of my classmates that passed NCLEX were only getting in the 50-60% also. I am scheduled to take the test on July 10th! But I started NCSBN last week. I would say it is not realistic to start it now unless you have a lot of time to dedicate to it. I am so sick of studying Im having a hard time staying focused. Hope this helps!

please guys how much is this NCSBN course review? And is it better than the kaplan review course. This is my 3rd time taking the nclex and i want it to be the last!!! I really need advice on how to prepare.Kaplan seems too expensive!

Just go the website of NCSBN Learning Extension, google it. They are offering different prices depending upon how many weeks. I purchased the 3 weeks for only $49 and I think the 5 weeks is $69. Not bad, yup the Kaplan is really expensive close to $500. I heard the Saunders Q and A is good too it is only $45 for 5,000. Kaplan has only 3,500 questions. Good luck and keep us posted.

NutMegPSU, so you think I need to reschedule my test for another 2 weeks or so?
