Just got my "Authorization to Test" email...

Published

Just got my ATT in an email from the Texas State Board of nursing... we graduated last Friday (man that was quick)

I am having heart palpitations just thinking about actually picking a date and setting it... so much anxiety!

Would you pick a date sooner or later? I leave on vacation in a week (May 10th) and start my job in a month (June 8th). What would you do? My test date ranges are May 5th- July 19th-ish.

Thanks!

Honestly, I would take at least a month worth of studying before taking the test. I made the mistake of taking it early so that I can get it over with, and thinking because I have many tries, I ended up failing the first time. With the second try, I waited and took a whole month to study and passed! good luck!

I would also advise you to study for at least a month, if not two or three. Is the new job an RN job? Do they expect you to have your license? You want to try to have your license before taking a job that requires the new license to avoid problems should you not pass the first time. I sure would wait to get involved with studying until after the vacation. Taking your NCLEX prep books along on your vacation is one sure way to insure you don't enjoy yourself. Good luck.

It's encouraging to see Texas is releasing ATTs that fast. I finished all requirements a couple weeks ago, but my school doesn't release to the board until this Thursday.

It's also encouraging to see you're able to schedule as early as May 5th. I'd totally get it over with ASAP. It's still fresh on your mind and it'd be one less thing to worry about when you start your job.

I also start June 8th. As soon as I get my ATT (next week) I will sign up for the earliest available date.
