I was reading through the threads but I did not see anyone starting this Fall 08. I will be starting this Fall 08 and would like to have any other new students join me with online chat. We will have many ups and downs. This way we can help one another.
I am in my second semester of pre-reqs and I have applied for NS for fall 08...I am stilling waiting on my acceptance letter. I also have 2 small kids. they are 11 months apart and I couldnt have gotten this far without the help and support of my family. I have to schedule my studying during naps and bedtime..it gets hard at times but i can say im doin pretty good with a 4.0 gpa....i am very proud of. I am so nervous and excited for NS...i cant wait for the challenge
I have heard rumors around here that ANP is such a hard class that you should take it by itself...however since I know no one that only takes one class a semester (I wouldn't even qualify for my financial aid then), I think I am going to take it with an easier class, like my elective I need or Psychology.

:yeah:This is very good it gives me hope!!!But in my case I do not have the help and support of my family But I'll do what I have to do to achieved it!
I would never take Micro durning the summer. I am not one good in science so I would need it as slow as it can get. I look forward to all your reports on how A&P is going. Let us know what you are dealing with in each class session. Good luck to all of us who have a desire to help make this world a better place.
Hi to all,:redpinkhe
I am planning on taking the English 0307 ( Develop writing II) along with Psych 2301 ( general psych.) on June and English 1301 ( composition and rhetoric) on July, so i can take the biology Anatomy and Physiology I this coming Fall. I also have a six year old daughter which i homeschool.
Would that be too much for the summer semester? I am trying to get all the pre- req done by the end of this fall to be able to apply for the Spring 2009.
One more question can you take the TEAS test before finishing all the pre-req or not?
And of course i would love to chat with people who are in the same boat as me and people who had the same experience, or even meet if you live in Houston!!!!!!
I am so glad i found this forum.:heartbeat:bowingpur:yeah:
I am so glad I found this thread. I am also starting my pre-reqs in the Fall. Because I only need Micro, two Chem classes and A&P I am going to do it one at a time. I am also a single mom to a 14 year old developmentally disabled child and I am ready for this new challenge. I only plan to take one class per semester because I need to work full time (need to pay loans from my BS degree in Health care Mgmt). I currently live in the East Bay in CA so it would not only be great to chat with other starting pre-reqs this fall but also with others in the same area. Can't wait to get started. Good luck to all

Hi,
I won't be able to answer your question but why don't you put your little girl to regular school like that you will have more time to study?
This is so funny to see that the pre req don't have the same name in different states mine are:
eng 111
nas 161
nas 162
sdv 101
And need to qualify for math 151
Total credits 12
hi all,
I am in my first semester of a 4 semester full time ADN program. I love it (or I should say I know I am going to love being a nurse!) One thing you need to get used to is the multi-tasking that is required...they threw so many different angles of study at us all at once it was pretty overwhelming and 10% of the class was gone in the first 2 months!
It was almost like the military where they were obviously trying to push us to the limit-which I think is understandable when you think of the requirements to be a nurse, it's certainly not for wimps! Basically everyone got into the program based on academics so how will they know if students can mentally hack it unless they try to swamp us? I guess that's their plan!
Once we got past the constant reminders of how many different ways you can fail, all the things NOT to do, etc. we were fine. I think. The most important thing that I did was to set up my system of organizing notes, handouts, calendars, etc. and stuck to it. Like a fanatic! It has saved me so many times I can't tell you. And LOTS of those 1x1 post it notes were great too-use them to flag pages in your textbooks, notebooks, handouts, etc.
Good luck and keep your eye on the prize!

Summer classes are intense especially for sciences. I started in the summer and really didn't know it could be easier for a semster or two. I won't say hard because that's relative. You have to be on it every day no matter what you take in the summer. Personally I think it's good practice for nursing school to start the pre-reqs at an intense level that way there are no illusions about what is expected of you.
