  1. I enjoyed the show. I saw nurse Jackie. It was like all the other said, a horrible show. Jada did a good job with this show and I look forward to seeing it each week.
  2. WOW thanks everyone. I am taking a class similar to that this fall. I appreciate all the advice. I think I will enjoy this class. I love this type of discussion.
  3. Not taking A&P this summer but I am in summer classes. I found a good study book I am reading to get ready for the class. It is called "Textbook of Basic Nursing" but it covers A&P a lot. Each chapter give a terminology review, acronym review, and A&P review. Then it give a true/false section which you have to correct the false statements, matching, and multiple choice. I don't think it is as detailed as the class will be but it helps. I will see how I do in class when I take it.
  4. I found that having to many will disorganize me. LOL I only use the wall calendar and my appointment feature in my cell phone.
  5. One of the issues I see is that you must change your study habits. If you are like me a TV person, remove the TV. I did and it helped. What ever keeps you from taking about 3 hours or more to study a day remove it. If you can. Watch your diet. It will effect how you study. I found that some foods make you sleepy. :angryfire We all enjoy hanging out with out girls. This is not something you can do for a while. Put all this on hold. Talk to your friends, if they are truly your friends they will support you. If not, you did not need them. Follow the advice on this forum. Use the help the school offers. Take advantage of everything. It will help you. I know you can do this but you must want it more than you want anything. Do not let "college" interfere with college. You are there to study and get into the program. Look at college for that reason and that reason only. I hope everyone here has helped and given you the strength to continue. Use this site. It is full of information that will help. Good luck and I will be praying for you.
  6. I understand how you feel. I know it seems bad but you can do this. Before you start another semester, get your house in order *so to speak* Nursing School will require your full attention. I have spoken to a lot of people who are in school and they all tell me one thing, It is hard but you can make it. You will need to look at your history. Did your grades drop only due to the hurricane or were they bad prior? Was it due to bad study habits or a lack of dedication? I am not trying to be mean but often I find that when I am doing bad it is due to my lack of giving 110%. You also must ask yourself how bad do you want this? This is more than a passing fling. It takes all of one and you must be willing to give up all to have it. Many friends have told me that you will not have a life. All you do is school, study, little sleep, and grab a bit here and there. If you party, you will fail. Keep your head up and don't drop out. If you are serious, stick with it, you will do better.
  7. Like everyone has said thanks so much for posting this. I did not know you could see vlogs on youtube. I am enjoying them. I think I will do one for myself. Just to have a record of all I go through. I did not find any good ones for pre-nursing. I think you could share a lot for others to master the class. :yeah:I must admit, I did get a little frighten when she said 12 chapters and then the test. That is a lot of reading.
  8. I must do the following: English Composition Introduction Psychology Developmental Psychology A&P Microbiology Humanities (art, music, theater appreciation) I will be done with all this at the end of Spring 09
  9. [color=olive]your notes are awesome:yeah:. i received them all. i am looking them over now and putting them on my thumb drive. i know these will be of help to me in my class.
  10. I wanted to get a head start on some of the reading. What book can I read to be ready for this class: Fundamentals of Nursing and Health Assessment? I have friends that have completed school years ago and they gave me some books but I don't where to start.
  11. I am so blessed to have someone like you share what you have with those of us who are about to deal with what you already did. One of the problems I always have is taking very good notes. You have given me a starting point and the organization needed to move forward. If you can please forward me the following notes: Hearing & Equilibrium Endocrine System Overview Lymphatic System The Heart Cardiac Physiology Reproductive System
  12. Wanted to update my information. Well, I am stillllllllll doing pre-reqs. I feel like I will be doing them for the rest of my life. I had to stop again. We moved so now I have to go to a different school. I will be attending TSU this fall. I pray that I will be able to apply for the program next fall. Keep me in prayer that it is the case. I was going to take the medical asst. class but a friend told me it would be a wast of time and money. This process has taken me through so much and in it all I have come to learn more about who I am and what I need to successed. I am happy that I want need to buy scrubs. It will all be given to me by the school They have on uniform which is white. I will have to get white shoes. I spoke with some of the students there and they told me to be ready to read 10-15 chapters in two weeks and then have a test on all that information. I was like, man. So I have been reading a lot more and watching TV a lot less. I want to be ready for this. I am also working on "critical thinking" it is hard. I just hope I am doing to much.
  13. You guys have given me a lot to think about. I have been trying to learn the "critical thinking" it is not easy. We don't naturally think this way and to do so means you must learn a whole new way of looking at things. I am looking forward in getting into nursing school. I am not looking forward to all the work. But I will do what ever it takes to successed. I joined this site some time ago and wanted to go to NS but life got in the way and I never really got things going. Well this time I am not going to let nothing stop me. I am taking the time to do what I need to do to complete this process. I will be a nurse. It is all I have ever wanted to do. No matter how hard it is I am going to do this.
  14. I am planning to enroll at TSU this fall. I would like any help anyone can give on what to expect.
  15. We just started the digestive system and I am losing it. Can someone help me with learning this system? I have done well up to this point. I made "A's" all the way so far. Now we come to this and I fear I will not do as well. Need some study tips.
