Family Planning around Nursing School
Thats the way i feel too, like it will be easier to be pregnant rather than when im actually working as an RN..plus, i would rather be pregnant during nursing school instead of waiting, because of fear of complications or whatever, and then down the road regret and wonder "what if". what if i could have successfully been pregnant through nursing school? i know it can be done & i know the type of person i am and that i am more than capable of it. it has been my plan to have kids no later than age 24 and to have kids no more than a year & a half to two years apart. me and my sister were a little over 4 years apart and i could never have a relationship with her because we were on such different levels. for example her being in middle school and me in high school we were clearly on different social/interest levels. and my son is already 2 so that personal goal has not been met. and i will be 24 in january. thanks for your input! glad to hear from someone who is currently pregnant in nursing school!

I took NCLEX-RN today and got all 265 Questions!!
from what i am told by my schools nursing program, you are given questions to answer until you get 75 questions right. so you could answer the 1st 75 right and the test end after question 75 or you may need to go to question 150 or higher..

Family Planning around Nursing School
so glad to read this post! looking forward to reading all the opinions! my boyfriend and i are planning to get pregnant here very soon! we're excited about it. it will be our second. i have a 2 year old and have been in school for a year making straight A's. and i know i can do it! my boyfriend is such a big help! we work so well together in a relationship & raising our 2 year old. we are planning it around my nursing school so that the due date will be in the summer time when classes are not in session. and i talked to the nursing instructors who said pregnancy will not prohibit me from being in the nursing program, they said it was my choice.

My A&P Elephant
i also shopped amazon and purchased some models of my own for my personal use for studying at home. i got a skull, a heart, and a brain. it really helped me with my crazy hours. i do my studying during the midnight hours so making extra time to study the schools models did not work for me. but i do my best studying at home where im comfortable. plus time with the school's models is ltd because other students trying to use them. now for the bigger models i just used my lab/class time very wisely to get my hands on them as much as possible.

do nurses really remember every tiny detail from anatomy class?
I have taken anatomy & physiology already and did very well getting an A in the class. But my question is do nurses really remember all those fine details? such as how nerves transmit electrical impulses like with all the gated channels, sodium ions, etc. And also all the names of all the muscles and each ones actions and how a muscle contracts? I feel I need to go back and refresh my memory on some of these things lol. thanks!:)

Are there any schools without a WAITING LIST for RN?
in august i will be applying to John Tyler Community College here in midlothian VA..there is no waitlist..you are either accepted or not accepted..but you literally have to be like straight A's to get in..it is very competitive..there are only 65 spots and usually about 2-3 applicants applying per seat..at one of the info sessions they said the minimum curricular GPA you need to be eligible is a 2.5 but if you have lower than a 3.7 GPA you can almost forget getting accepted..here is the john tyler website if you want to read more www.jtcc.edu good luck!

High School Grad about to go into Nursing School...What to expect??
I would say VCU is the school to go with. I live here in Richmond and after I graduate from JOhn Tyler community college with my ADN I plan to attend VCU to do the RN-BSN program. They are one of the top medical colleges in the nation. I am so happy to have such a wonderful medical school minutes away from me.

Cheating
i would definitely NOT keep my mouth shut. That just screams I am as guilty as student B. Then when the time comes when student A is questioned about the plagiarism you have to explain why you did not come forth if you knew about it. I would take the initiative to go to the instructor and explain the situation. Let alone how will no one notice the plagarism? I mean student A explains the projects were identical down to the background. And they had to present them to the class and instructor. Pretty sad if everyone misses the fact that they saw one presentation twice. If I was in this situation I would not risk my education for student B. And will not let someone get away with something like this. Letting them get away only tells them they can get away with it. And other students may not be aware of what student B has done and they may too become caught in the same situation and have their education at risk. Better to take care of student B now than to risk student A's education and possibly other student's as well.

Help With Dosage Calculations!!
i agree with airforceRN. I can understand if you post a thread asking for help on a couple calculations to see where you are making mistakes. and show us the process you are doing. that way we can see where your mistakes are being made and we can aid you in making corrections to your process of solving the calculation. If people on this forum just solve the calculations for you, then you are not learning it for yourself. and knowing how to correctly do drug dose calculations is serious. i would not want a health care provider administering any medications to me when they did not properly study how to do them.

memorizing??
i agree with the suggestions you have been given already. memorization is not going to allow you to understand why things are the way they are. Or to understand why the steps to a process are important. There are specific things that memorization is apropriate for and other things it is not appropriate for. Stick to the method you have been doing! dont worry about how anyone else does it. and good luck!

nursing program vs. prerequisite courses?
and im sure that taking classes you are actually interested in, like the nursing classes, makes it a lot easier than boring old english and math..haha!
-
nursing program vs. prerequisite courses?
thanks! i was thinking the same thing about prereqs being hard and the competition to get in. my school has 65 openings avail each application period. and they say there is an average of 2-3 applicants trying to get each seat. my school takes the top 65 highest GPA's of all the applicants.

nursing program vs. prerequisite courses?
i am currently working at completing all the prerequisite courses for nursing. I have heard from others that getting through the prerequisites and then getting accepted into a nursing program is the hard part. And they say that getting through the nursing courses is the easier part. I am curious to know what your views are on this? thanks! :wink2:
