Hello all,

I just wanted to share my very first interview as a new grad...

This past Wednesday, I had my very first interview with a wonderful SNF nearby my home. I am a new grad LVN and I was interviewed by the DSD (Director of Staff Development) who told me all about the facility, what your duties would entail, orientation, benefits, etc. But best of all was she was extremely supportive of the fact that I was a new grad & that she would always be of help/assistance if I had any questions regarding whatever came up. She didn't ask me too many questions, but I gave her my best answers & I left feeling confident. Before the interview ended she gave me their business card and wrote down the name of their DON and to call at 2pm today to follow up (the DON will make the final decision). I also gave the receptionist a thank you card to give to her before I left :) Surprisingly, at 1:30 this afternoon the DSD gave me a call first and notified me that the DON is currently trying to see if she could add me to one of their shifts, and that she would call again next week when they figure it out (she was so sweet & told me not to feel worried & that and they are not trying to ignore me at all).

So I hope and pray to God that they will take me aboard and hire me as soon as they can.

During these tough times & with the Bay Area being flooded with no employment for new grads, I just feel blessed to be given the opportunity for an interview. And if I don't get the position, I am glad to have had the experience anyways.

Please pray for me & I wish all you other new grads out there & experienced nurses the best of luck in your future endeavors :nurse:

The DSD asked me what position I was applying for, and I told her LVN. She then informed me that in THEIR facility it is also the same as Charge Nurse.

good for you! sounds very exciting... good luck!

Best wishes and glad to hear a positive story about a new grad. Sounds like this might be a good place to work. Hope you get the job.
