Ours is an 80 for the lowest passing grade as of the end of the 3rd quarter in 2009 we have a 97% pass rate.

I'm interested in seeing this info. I've always wondered if having to have a higher grade to pass means having a higher NCLEX pass rate.

I looked at three other schools in my area that I know have a lower passing grade (two of them I think are 72 and 76 and i'm not sure about the 3rd but I know it wasn't an 80 or I would have remembered that lol, I want to think it was a 76).

Their NCLEX pass rates were 85.66%, 92%, and 88.73% so I guess in this case the grading scale did reflect in their pass rate.

Our lowest passing grade is a 74%, and our current first try pass rate is 97%, I believe.

My school attributes this to their cut-throat use of ATI testing, though (you have to pass ATI within the 50th percentile for each clinical to progress to the next semester, or fail the course regardless of course grade).

Passing is 75 and NCLEx first try pass rate is 99%

Passing is 76% and not sure what last year's NCLEX rate was, but I believe it was around 85% or so. Staff is quite worried about that since in the past they were used to 90%+. Not sure what has caused the recent drop in the past few years.

I actually think there may be a different reason for NCLEX pass rates. Many schools who boast 99% or 100% rates use third party testing to "weed out" any students who may not pass the NCLEX the first time.

I can only post as to what my experience is, but my school has a fairly competitive program (usually around 200-250 applicants for 40-60 spots) but a very reasonable passing grade (76%). They do not use any kind of weeding out test anywhere in the program and have very high retention rates. I've been told by others that very few students actually fail out, most leave due to moving out of state or other life circumstances. This means that even the borderline passing students are attempting the NCLEX each year, who would not have been allowed to graduate from other programs and never gotten a chance to take the exam.

At my school, the lowest passing grade is an 80% and we have a 100% pass rate for the NCLEX as well as job placement..

78% is the lowest passing grade. 2008 the pass rate was 89.7% (which is slightly lower than the usual 90% plus rate that they have).

I have wondered, though -- since exams themselves (taken in school) are not standardized, I would imagine that some schools are just harder than others - so it may be harder to pass a test at 74% at one school than to pass one at 80% at another school.

My school requires you to get a 75% in your class to pass. I believe they have a passing rate on first round NCLEX of 97%. It sounds like your school is pretty average.
