Hi guys,

I had an interview last week. During the interview, I met the unit manager and she was AWESOME! I got a call this am and was offered the job. I am super excited to have a job and saying prayers for all other new grads to be so lucky. The only negative is the very long commute. Guess I'll have to get some books on CD. Anyone else starting in July, please email me! :yeah:

Hey Congrats!! such an achievement!! what unit you will be working on? I have interview on june 25. I really need this job.

its really weird how they do it.

I said med-surg was what I wanted and they only had the nurse manager from one unit come down and interview for the possible positions.

In the email offering me an interview, they stated they had openings in cardiac, surgical and medical floors.

When I asked the HR people if I would be interviewed by any other nurse managers from other floors, they said they only do one floor per interview day.

Med/Surg here. When you go for the interview, they will ask you what unit you want. If you have one you really want, tell them. There were a few different managers there that day. Looking around the room at all the applicants, I said to myself how can I be different than all these other people who are just as qualified. So I went in upbeat, positive, honest and tried to convey that I will work my heart out. Good luck to all! :)

NStudentinMaryland,

Congrats on the job!! I have my interview on the 23rd, wed next week and I'm a bit nervous as I dont really know what to expect. How was your particular interview as far as the atmosphere? Was it pretty relaxed or were they obviously "screening" you? Did you already sit for ur nclex? Did they ask for ur att?

Another question, I was planning on taking the metro but I just moved to the area and although I have looked at the routes and the schedules I feel more comfortable driving that day, is parking crazy? I know you have to plan $12 for parking coz thats the max they charge per day. By the way i'll be coming from the gaithersburg/montgomery village area.

Hi Sasi!

Great to hear you have an interview! I was one of many applicants who met in the True Auditorium. We had a brief interview with the nurse recruiters who are VERY nice. It was relaxed, no pressure other than the usual job interview anxiety! I suppose they were screening out people who were obviously not a good fit, but I am not sure. Then they will set you up with a face-to-face interview with the unit manager. My manager presented some patient cases and I had to tell her how I would use my nursing skills to solve the problems. All I can suggest is be positive, resourceful, and patient focused. I asked for a unit tour and was thrilled to get it. Total time there was about 2 or 3 hours.

Depends on the time of day of your interview coming from Mont. Co. because Beltway traffic can be a nightmare. I allowed for extra time because I got lost, 29 has many stoplights, and the parking garage was quite full so I had to drive a bit to find a space. My parking was $8. Oh, and wear comfortable shoes, sounds silly but the walk from the garage to the auditorium is quite a hike.

I believe you need to be licensed before the training begins, but I can't say for sure and it's best to talk to the recruiter. I passed NCLEX, and as soon as I get my license I am taking it to the DC Board in person for a DC license. May I suggest you schedule the moment you get your ATT? I scheduled as soon as I received the email and most of the test dates were full so I still had to wait 1 week.

Of course, all of this is just my experience and yours may be different. Sending positive thoughts your way! :)

Hi evryone.

For those who picked June 23rd as their interview date, did you already receive the confirmation letter?

I haven't received it yet, im now nervous, I hope I'm not too late, because I just applied last tuesday. Im still hoping for the best... *sigh

Thank you very much for your detailed answer. You are such an angel! Thank you very much for the positive thoughts, I'm hoping things will be smooth and get the job coz I really need it. Will let you know how it goes. Not sure what floor to pick, I mean I want medsurg, seems easier but my heart says critical care or stepdown, and I am just being a chicken. I also wanna pick a floor where they might have more openings. We'll see...

Thank you much!

Yeah I received mine over 2 weeks ago. Like maybe 4 or 5 days after the email inviting me for an interview. It will come before tuesday hopefully. Mine is the 23rd as well, 10 am. Plus If they offered you to come for interview that late it means they somehow want/need you. Don't worry. Stay positive and report the good news!!!

Sasi,

thanks! makes me feel somewhat relieved... =)

I hope it will come before tuesday!

Goodluck to your interview =)
